Watch out for Zulkiffli. His only 14 and already won Kedah U21 trophy. Watch his match against Singapore Sports School Lenny Tan. SSP player got thrash. He is also older than Zul by 2 or 3 years. I think Singapore will never catch up with Malaysia and you know what, Zul is not the best U14 Malaysian lolz. Sighzzz....Maybe Badminton funding in Singapore should go to other sports.....

Believe most of the casualties are from the Singapore Sports School and a few are from the national team. Fu Mingtian lost to a Korean gal in a marathon match which lasted more than one hour.

The top seed NZ mens doubles were upset by a scratch pair from Singapore.

Congratulations to Singapore's Derek Wong who upset the No.8 seed Beryno Wong of Malaysia in the Mens Singles last 16. He will meet top seed Tanongsak of Thailand in the quarterfinals tomorrow morning.

Looks like the Thais and the Koreans are a force to reckon with in this competition.

The match times are rather unfriendly as most days they start early in the morning and end early in the evening, akin to office hours. I think I could only attend the finals on Saturday.

Danny Bawa/Vanessa Neo beat Viki Pelatnas pair Viki Indra/Richi

SIN BA faster than PBSI in hiring new player,
Viki/Richi has been paired for long time. Danny Bawa was BD Junior Winner Kejurnas 2006 paired with Afiat Yuris.

Chung Jae Hee (ex Ra Kyung Ming or Lee Kyun Won 's partner) come back, paired with Chou Min Ho beat "unlucky pair Lingga/Devi 21-16 19-21 23-21

I can't afford to. I will have no gaji, unlike Jimbo who is so highly paid by his company.

Just got back from watching the Tanongsak vs Derek Wong match.Tanongsak wasn't motivated to play well and lived dangerously to beat Derek in 3 games.Derek played well but it was not enough. In the decider, there was a poor line call at 14/13 and Tanongsak protested. Since the umpire could not overrule,Tns. requested the referee for a change of linesman. This was turned down and proved a turning point. From then on, some of the Spore crowd got behind Tns. and applauded every of his winning points. The last rally was TNS at his most motivated. He defended successively three times in a row and placed a beautiful, cross court drop to clinch the match.
What SBA officials must remember is that some of the Spore crowd will not tolerate any unfair advantage towards home players and will get behind the non-Spore opponent to tell SBA so.
For a 17 years old, Tanongsak moves with an air of striking confidence. He looks like a future WR1 five years down the road. Has there ever been a Thai MS WR1 before?
It'll be great for badminton if Tanongsak lives up to his potential.

errm... how come all the remaining players from Singapore have foreign-sounding names? (my bad...)

But looking at the scoreline, Derek did well and his name sounded really Singaporean.

It was a hard-fought match. Both players showed great fighting spirit

I think he's Singaporean. The line judging for this tournament have been poor so far imho. Why are there only two linemen, one on each side.

    Tonight's semi-finals start at 7pm. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sp...=2008&m=5&d=23

Its Korea vs Thailand in both MS semi-finals.

Thailand is assured of one finalist in the WS as three Thai girls made it to the semi-finals of the WS.

    See you guys there!

I believe the poor calls were made due to vision problems (aggravated by less than ideal lighting) rather than on purpose like CO and KO.Tanongsak was bothered because that was the second poor call from the same linesman.
