forgive me for my ignorance, but what does this mean? I understand that when you're given a yellow card, it means that your behavior towards the game is unbecoming. the real question is, what are its repercussions? what does this do to your badminton career aside from giving you a bad record? is this like a detention? do you get a lower world ranking? are there other colored cards? and do you know other games when a yellow card was brought out?
i think it's just like soccer...in a match, you get a warning...verbal, then yellow..and then red is DQ...at least that's to my knowledge...i have never seen anything beyond a red card...and that was only in a clip once...but consequences, i have no idea...i don't think there are any...but if at all, probably just a bad record, or a minor monetary fine...
i have joined a number of tourneys but never have i seen an umpire w/ a yellow card. i guess they just don't expect a big fuzz could happen in small-time tourneys compared with the 2008 Korean open. oh well, i sure hope they had flashed a yellow card when my mixed doubles guy opponent challenged me to a fist fight. He got pissed off when he noticed that I've been constantly hitting the birdie towards the girl's direction. guilty as charged. but it was part of our strategy because the girl's the weaker player. hmmmm ... maybe i'll just send him a yellow card as a birthday gift. LOL
oooo ... now we're talking. this is the kind of info i've been waiting for ... the technicalities and all. so what are the gounds for a yellow or a red card to be flashed?
whoa really? i always thought it was a disqualification...because after a warning, giving the opponent 1 point really isn't a big deal...sort of...unless you're down championship point...
The rules provide for a yellow card, a red card and a disqualification (which, I believe, is a black card). Yellow is a warning and red means a point will be given to the opponent(s) - so misbehaving at c/ship point is pretty risky. Er, I really hope you're joking. Hitting mostly at the girl is near the top of standard doubles tactics - he might as well have got annoyed at you for "smashing too hard".
I did smash a couple of times, but not to her body or face. besides, she's more than able to handle my shots and even smash just as strong as me. the guy's just hot tempered. The spectators can attest to that.
