A sad case of love went wrong. Can they still concentrate on OG? http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne+News/Singapore/Story/A1Story20080408-58631.html Susilo preparing to take legal action against Jiawei It had already become a fairytale romance without the happy ending. Now, the relationship which had the Singapore sports world - and Singapore - talking is set for another twist. National badminton player Ronald Susilo is considering taking legal action against his former fiancee, national table tennis player Li Jiawei.
from another source Top Singapore badminton Olympic hopes in love spat Mon Apr 7, 12:51 AM ET An ugly spat has erupted between two of Singapore's top Olympic hopes, with badminton ace Ronald Susilo reportedly mulling legal action against former lover and table tennis queen Li Jiawei. Susilo, once ranked world number six but now languishing at 17, is seeking a share of a car and a condominium the pair bought together when they were an item, the Straits Times said. The claims sparked a furious response from world number eight Li on Monday that he was trying to ruin her Olympic dream. The newspaper said Susilo, who shot to fame when he upset world number one Lin Dan at the Athens Olympics in 2004, had consulted lawyers and was seeking the payoff after his five-and-half year affair with Li ended in January Li, who is tipped to lead the Singapore national team to an Olympic gold in August, said she was stunned. "Does he want to affect my chances of winning a medal or my moods?" she asked through the newspaper. "What's his motive and why now? I am a girl after all and he knows these things will upset me." The Indonesian-born Susilo said he sought legal advice after unsuccessful attempts to contact Li, although she insisted he had never called. "What can I do now? I have loans to pay and it is urgent," he told the Today newspaper, while pledging that the furore would not affect his Olympic preparations. "Rest assured, I will focus on getting ready for the Olympics." The pair got together at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and soon became Singapore's golden couple.
Return the money so can win the Oly medal What do you think? The table tennis girl got the badminton guy to put in S$100k for a condo and $50k for a car and both items are in only her name. (and she does not even drive!) And poor Susilo is no Paul McCartney, who after being relieved of millions still has many millions. I think if she does not return Susilo's money, the Spore media will make it very hard for her to concentrate on her table tennis. Would be wise for her to 'refund' Susilo so she can focus on winning at least S$250k which would more than cover $150k. Otherwise she's unlikely to have the peace of mind to win anything.
In sport and in love, always use your head, not your heart, especially when you mix the two together. Perhaps that is why she earns more and she "gets" more, because she uses her head more?
Some call it got burnt. Well if the lawyers are involved, am sure those lawyers will have their obligation to earn a living. Unless Ronald backs up.
This sounds like.. ..as if they're "officially" and "legally" married already..Or are they??.. Whatever may be the cause for their fall out, can't they move on and go on their separate ways??..And if they do, then i think it's a good lesson for Ronald..
Wonder if the courts will look at this case. May not be the same crcumstances though. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080617/tod-lifestyle-skorea-dating-offbeat-7f81b96.html
I have watched too many of this kind of cases on People's court on TV, and most of the time, the guys got back their share. If Susilo likes to bring the case to here, maybe he will have a good chance. Of course guys support guys, I will support Susilo.
that is the cost of playing the dating game but i think ronald deserve the car payment back on the 'shared' car he didn't get to use or own
