well from that long post... i can safely say that Peter Gade has innovatively developed new deceptive shots for our great entertainment! And it's proven he's even won games with those shots. Agree?

Well a saw that clip of Mark Zwiebler, cant say I saw anything that was innovative, all the strokes and techniques of Mark was quite fundamental in today's MS. in fact it looks very much like Foo Kok Keong's style of rally rally rally and defend dive defend.

i just find that his style and flow of play resembles Peter Gade's flow...but i suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, and i do understand where you're comming from...most people would choose LD/TH/LCW because they ARE the best

you're right, Zwiebler does sort of resemble Gade... but Gade does it better and smoothier and... Gade looks more relaxed... the styles are similar however.

i think best style is Taufik Hidayat, love his relax-ed-ness and his I-don't-really-care-about-anything attitude, really adds to his overall image lol

Actually, although the topic talks of who is the best/inno player in the world today, after to talk a little about yesterday. After watching Cheah Soon Kit again in the doubles final at TC 1992 and Oli Gold final at in 1996 videos as well as my memory of 1988 TC semifinal game, CHeah's game was innovative compared with his senior players of LYB_Tian, Razif_Jailani, Eddy_Gunawan and Prk _KIm.

A lot of jump smash, drops from the back, cross court jabs so lethal and cross court block defence that caracterised the double game of the 90s and todays.

    1. Rudy Hartono for Speed and Power Game that influence all player today. Since his appearence we can see smash, dropshot and drive...not just rally...and other boring game

    2. Liem Swie King for his jumping Smash...all player now using jump smash

    3. Taufik Hidayat for his Special Backhand Technique...i never see a player with two wing attack like the bad boy, an opponent cannot relax with his BH, cos he can smash with great power..is it innovatife? absolutely Yes...he can depend on his BH

    4. Icuk Sugiarto with his determination (not sure ..)

    5. Zhao Jianhua....when he jump...no one know where the ball goes....

    6. Also Ricky/Rexy, not sure bout this, but i think both of them speed up the game more than before, smash...drive...smash.....

I also note that there is a men double player from china that use spin serve, unfortunately its already banned...its around 80's
