I will be down in SD this weekend to visit family. not sure if there are members who play in Stagecoach in Carlsbad on Sunday morning. we plan to go there to hit a few rounds in the morning with some friends. if you happen to be there, do come and say hi!

i will be 20,000 feet above on the way down, and 85mph on Route 5 on the way up at 2am...

i did consider LA, but trying to squeeze a short trip with so much driving and so many destination is just not feasible. :(

    Playing at Balboa Park

    Hi all,

I am new to San Diego and will be here for the next few months. I've read the posts about Balboa Park and would really like to join the badminton club as a member. Need some advice from regulars here. After I join the club do I just jump in and play with other members or do I need to look for players myself? Feel free to give me some advice on how it works here in San Diego. Thanks.

    Playing at Balboa Park

    Hi all,

I'm new to San Diego and I will be here for the next couple of months. I am interested in playing at Balboa park and I would like to know a few things so appreciate if the regulars would help answer my questions.

    a. Do I have to come in my own group or I just join any groups that are playing on the courts?
    b. Shuttles. Do I have to bring my own?
    c. I just pay the USD$30 membership fee and just jump in and join any groups that are playing over at Balboa?
    d. I only know how to play doubles so am I obligated to play singles?
    e. Will there be groupings in terms of skill levels?

Thanks in advance. I really look forward to getting some answers before I head over to Balboa.

Hope this is not too late. Visit http://groups.google.com/group/sdbadminton for more places to play.

For the club members, most play double since not enough courts. If you don't play at club courts, you can sign in waiting list with a partner(s) to play on open play courts, either single or double.

For other places, just wait for your turn, with anyone for your partner.

You need bring your own rackets and shuttlecocks wherever you play. The club does not offer anything.
