hi everyone.. as you can see i'm new here but i'm not really new since i've been visiting/reading this forum for more than a year now but only decided to register today because i have this idea i want to share and probably know if this will be effective or not. i have read almost everywhere that hydrating your shuttlecocks will make it last longer than usual. there are lots of ways of doing it such as steaming, dipping, and using a humidifier.. so i've searched the net for some diy's in making a humidifier and came up with this: http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&id=53 so i followed the instructions and made it and connected the end of the hose to a shuttlecock tube like this: so will this workout? what do you guys think?
It seems really interesting. I might try it to see if it works. Seems to work for the Gatorade bottle in the link though.
anyone tested this out? does it works?? please share.... maybe i can do that. but in Malaysia? do I really need the humidifier??
Here's how to make Humidor (for storing cigars) http://how2dostuff.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-build-humidor-for-cheap.html I might build this one day, but using the air pump & Gatorade bottle to provide humidty.
just steam them...takes less than 10 mins... and ur using all the waste steam while making rice or boiling water for tea or general cooking activity or something like that
Actually, There is a product for this purpose. [photo 1.] Instead of water, Using Isopropyl Alcohol, one can quickly dampen shuttles. Since it is volatile it is okay when one accidentally spill it. I've seen a guy actually DIY this. As already mentioned, you can steam the shuttle. The other way is you put watered tissues into a shuttle tube the night before use.
It works better for me. It will dampen shuttle quickly and no residues left after multilple of usages. After couple of days of using water with this product, some ppl reported the humid-tube will start to generate musky smell. Yes, it start to rot. Using alcohol will remove this problem also. Now we have humid warm season. I don't need to use this tube but In Canada, I think you would get a lot of benefit using this. (Increasing durability)
