vince, 12 hours a week is quite a lot of hours, but still, i think if you can afford the time and you enjoy it, you should continue.

    > Q1. How many time do you guy play a week and how long each time?

I used to play as much as you do. around 3-4 times, up to nearly 10 hours, but since i started my job, i don't have as much time anymore, i only play 4 hours everyweek.

    > Q2. Do you guys pratice your swing with your racquet at home?

    you do that too??

    > Q3. Do you guys play more than one location within a week?

used to (again), i have played in as many as 4 gyms in one week.

    > Q4. Do you guys play in tournament?

used to. i haven't done that for nearly a year now. tournaments are fun, but they tend to take up a whole weekend.

    > Q5. Do you guys watch badminton tape over and over again.

    yup.

    > Q6. Who is your favorite player?

    Gong, and Dong..

    > Q7. Do you play when friend call you up?

    yeah.

    > Q8. Do you play when you are sick.

    yup.

    > Q9. How many different racket model you owned?

quite a few. i only use two of them though, the rest tend to be experiments.

    > Q10. How many racquet do you have?

erm.... like 6 or so intact ones..

    > Q11. Do you run on trek mill or build muscle mass for badminton?

no, but i bike a lot. biking is very good since there's less impact on the knees.

this poll is cool. i am curious what the other fanatics do.

No big deal Byro, every thread often bring up different subject. I am just glad I am not the only one that swing racquet around the house and some of you do footwork drill at home, I do too. This sound scary, when I watch the badminton tape, I pretend to be the player at the bottom of the screen and pratice footwork drill according where the shuttle is placed by the player on the top of the screen. Boys! they are fast, I have problem simulating their speed and anticipation but it does work for me. Anybody have strange badminton ritual they like to share?

Q1. How many time do you guy play a week and how long each time?
1 to 3 per week (depending on the workload and schedule of that week). 2 hours each.

Q2. Do you guys pratice your swing with your racquet at home?
Sometime, but apartments in HK are usually quite small, i.e. you don't have enough space to do this (you will very easily hit your racquet with the furniture).

Q3. Do you guys play more than one location within a week?
    Yes.

Q4. Do you guys play in tournament?
No, not up to the standard yet.

Q5. Do you guys watch badminton tape over and over again.
    Yes.

Q6. Who is your favorite player?
Most recently - Wang Chen, the best player in HK (but she comes from China team). I was impressed in how fast she can climb up the ranking last year.

Q7. Do you play when friend call you up?
    Yes.

Q8. Do you play when you are sick.
    Most of the time.

Q9. How many different racket model you owned?
Over 10, from Yonex, Carlton, Mizuno, Gosen, Winex, RSL and Hi-Qua.

Q10. How many racquet do you have?
    Over 10.

Q11. Do you run on trek mill or build muscle mass for badminton?
    A little.

Q1. How many time do you guy play a week and how long each time?
3 times a week. About 8.5 hours total a week.

Q2. Do you guys pratice your swing with your racquet at home?
Is the sky blue? At home, at work...... You don't even need
a racquet. I only do this during the winter since I don't play
in the summer. In the summer, I practice my golf swing.....

Q3. Do you guys play more than one location within a week?
    Just one location.

Q4. Do you guys play in tournament?
Sure, but only in Masters events(for old people over the age of 30)

Q5. Do you guys watch badminton tape over and over again.
Not obsessively but I do watch.

Q6. Who is your favorite player?
    Zhao Jianhua, Yang Yang, Subaja/Mainaky

Q7. Do you play when friend call you up?
    Sometimes.

Q8. Do you play when you are sick.
    No, it's bad for you.

Q9. How many different racket model you owned?
Q10. How many racquet do you have?
I have 17 CAB 8's and use them exclusively because
    they're affordable and durable.

Q11. Do you run on trek mill or build muscle mass for badminton?
No, but I ride a stationary bike 3 times a week to maintain
    my aerobic base.

Q1. I play 3 times a week, 3 hours each time. Occasionally, I play an extra 2 hours at another gym also.
Q2. I practice my swing with and without a racquet. Once, while taking a shower, I was practicing my overhead swing and knocked the shower rod and curtain across the bathroom. Water and soapsuds everywhere!
Q3. Usually I play at the same location every week, but see Q1.
Q4. I play in Senior tournaments (brackets are 35 yrs old to 80 in US). It's still badminton, and I'd rather lose than not play. Who can sit and watch other people play for hours and not want to play? Also, I try to learn from good opponents.
Q5. I watch badminton tapes every day. We cheer for Gong Zhichao even when we know how the match will end.
Q6. Gong, Xia Xuanze, Ge/Gu, Chandra Wijaya/Tony Gunawan, Kusharyanto/Timur, Ardy Wiranata, Yap Kim Hock are my favorites.
Q7. Friends don't have to call me up. Thay know where to find me Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Q8. I play if I have a cold, because it's a good cure. I tried playing with the flu and a fever, but I just got sicker.
    Q9. Iso 300(2), Iso 600, Cab 9 t-joint, plus 3 racquets I don't like and lend to people.
    Q10. 4 good ones, 3 so-so.
Q11. I run on soft indoor track, ride stationary bike, use weight machines for chest, back, triceps, abdomen muscles, and legs (especially hamstrings). I've been lazy for about 3 months and need to get back on regular workout program.
BTW, a Danish coach said that technique is 80-85% of game, the other 15% is endurance and power. But I saw a friend win a tournament (singles) against better players by running them from front to back until they were too tired to use their good technique. One guy fell down and the other almost threw up. So I think conditioning is important, too.
