Wondering because a badminton buddy jokes around when he is unsure if the birdie is about to go out or not so he blows at it for an extra measure lol...

I think this is covered by law 16.6.4: A player shall not be guilty of misconduct not otherwise covered by the Laws of Badminton.

I don't think it's allowed... but we always do it around here, recreationally ;)

No comment on the question. I suck at it.

Anyway, unless you are Superman or Clark Kent, it would not make a different.

i keep thinking about this also..... but i don't think it will make any difference even if it is a net-clipper situation, at least i tried with no satisfactory result :D

I think the rulebook states that if the shuttle is still in play, players will not interfere with the shuttle's flight until received by the appropriate side.

    I'm sorry but I couldn't resist.

But Blowing the Birdie just sounds wrong.

The ruling never specifically say that it is wrong to blow at birdie, it is just a general statement. Dependent on individual interpretation. Personally, I believe it is wrong but if you insist on doing so, then make sure the line judges or umpire dun see it!

If you wear a loose shirt it'll prolly be more effective to use it and fan the birdie out.
If it's not a competition, why not just hit it when in doubt? It's more fun to hit than just stand there isn't it?

I agree with you, only unsound mind will use anything to fan the birdie out instead of use the right means to hit it across the net.

    1) it is all for fun (blowing birdy or shuttle, your choice)
    2) if you have time to get ready and close enough to blow on the SHUTTLE, you would have time to get ready and smash.
    3) Mint always help, you stink! Tell that to the blower...

So, yes, I agree with you.

As some others said, if it's recreational play, do what you want but don't blow the shuttle in tournament/match play.
