Hello, i just recently restring my racket at 24 lbs from a store, and after 2 hours of playing badminton, the string broke. Is BG 80 that not durable or what?? Should i tell the shop to restring for me again for free? Any comment?? thanks
Does anyone spell "mis-hit" Possible factors: stringer error, player error or both! Need to provide us more detail and some pictures.
Is that stringer your regular stringer? If he is your regular stringer, and his stringing has always been ok, most probably, the string broke on a mishit when you hit the shuttle on the top mains where it is not covered by the crosses. The top mains are usually the weakest part of the strings as the impact of the shuttle is relatively hard. My advise is to try, to get the stringer to restring your racket for the cost of the string.
I think a lot of us need to start taking responsibility for how we play and especially who we let string and maintain our racket. We cant keep crying the stringer messed up, just cause the strings are new. In general if its a badminton store, club or gym you're getting your racket done at, its a good chance they know what they're doing. Or even better request a specific person/stringer does it that you trust. Might take more time or cost more money, but its money well spent. Im sure many of us have at least one broken string story about popping strings within 30 min of using a freshly strung racket, I know I have. Another remedy....BG70, 80s are known to be less than durable.
When it looks like 2 strings broke it is because the same main broke at the top of the frame and the lack of tension causes them to pull back inside the frame looking like 2 strings were broken... Generally this is from striking the floor or rubbing the string when picking up a shuttle with the racket... BG 80 is not very durable but this is your fault and not the stringer...When I was young I could not figure out why my strings broke this way and always blamed it on the stringer....inspect the frame to see if there are any little scratch marks on the outside of the frame where the string broke...Be more Carefull or use head tape to protect the string....
is it is due to mis-hit, either dont mis-hit.. or ask the stringer if he could add a extra cross at the top. this can protect the top main strings.
it does happen, i've strung a racquet on bg80 and snapped it within the first 20 hits before, so it's not all that surprising. i'm sure it has happened to everyone before, doesn't make it any less frustrating though.
Base on the description, it's more likely to be: 1. Mis-hit, especially rackets like At800, which has a larger empty gap on the top, w/o any support of crosses. 2. Scratch the floor 3. Gromment is wearing out I am using BG80 @ 23 or 24lbs for years, it lasts me about 3-4 weeks, with 10+ hrs per week. No way you can break it in 2 hrs, under normal usage.
If we lose a game, blame the racket. If we pop a string, blame the stringer. If we ..., blame .... Great, because only MYSELF is perfect, everyone else is not...
hahaha, i never blame my stringer, i know he does a good job because i've had years of experience with him, so i always blame my opponent for being too good and making me mishit so often!
I use BG80 and I break the string every hour or two of playing...!! So nothing to worry about...its normal, just get it restring try BG65/BG65Ti for more durable strings...
