    Hello fellow BC'er!:D

Sorry if this question has been previously asked.
    The Question is:

"Which grip (forehand or backhand) is better for defence when first preparing for a smash?"
this may vary depending on each player's style.
Maybe one would use a forehand grip on the forehand side of the court, and maybe one would use a backhand grip on the backhand side of the court..
but which grip you prefer or feel comfortable using?

For me, i use a backhand grip the most often as its probably a bad habit..

I've also noticed that many professionals like 'Kim Dong Moon' uses forehand.

both are needed for a complete defense. you can't have just one or the other. many use backhand for it's large range of possible motion. but really, you use whatever grip that allows you to best return the shuttle.

when you're watching TV, grab your racquet and practise changing grips. at the commercial breaks, close your eyes, spin the racquet, and think "forehand" and try end up with a forehand grip.

    Which grip for defense?

If you are playing doubles then the backhand grip is the most widely used...
For singles the forehand is best to let you defend the smash and then
    attack...
A good practice drill is to walk along and change grips according to which foot is forward....Right foot forward is backhand grip and the next step is left foot forward changing to forehand grip...keep changing as you walk....the next drill is to bounce a shuttle from forehand then to backhand grip as you walk...:D
