Considering the fact that chances are I'm going get a free restring job from SDBS, what type of string and tension is recommended player who wants control and power at the sametime? For all you owners of the Yonex Muscle Power 100, please respond! Also, what colors string would look good on a red/black racket? I was considering black strings with BG 70Pro since my school colors are in fact black and red.
I've got my MP100 strung with BG68-Ti at 25 lbs and I'm quite happy with it. However, considering that such tension voids the Yonex warranty, and that SDBS seem to have a bad reputation here, I wouldn't let them touch my racquet... at least not string it beyond 22 lbs.
The Yonex BG-65 Ti is a good string... I just got my Fleet Ti-99 racket restrung with the Ashaway Microlegend.... Seems too be as good as the BG-65 Ti but a little too expensive though
There's a sticker on the handle of the racquet. It says 18-20 main and 20-22 cross. Although higher than for any other Yonex racquet, it's still lower than what an advanced player would use, and even lower than what most intermediate player use... The MP100 is robust and will take much more than that. I guess *statistically* higher tensions will shorten its life span, and Yonex don't want to dish out replacements, so they have this useless warranty policy. That's another reason why they suck. Look at Carlton, they warrant stringing tensions of 30 lbs, even 40 lbs on their high-end racquets! Now that's believing in your product!
