Hi mojojojo,
I live in Essex and I think it is a great place to live and there are loads of clubs here and various leagues for all different levels. It depends on what your standard is but there are always plenty of places to play. The only downside is as other people have said, there is much chance to play singles in the UK as clubs generally only play doubles.
But I am sure that where ever you go in the UK you could get loads of decent games.
Where abouts in Essex does your friend live?
Any idea what part of Essex you would move to?
If you want to know anything else about badminton in Essex (or Essex in general) just ask and I will be more than happy to help if I can.
Best wishes,
Alaric

Hey Alaric,
I actually have an interview with a school in Surrey tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if I'll be in Essex after all

I'm sure you'll still get plenty of good games in Surrey.
I hope your interview goes well.
If things change and you want to know anything about Essex, just let me know.
Best wishes,
Alarick

Hey Alaric,
So it turns out I will be moving to Essex afterall. I'll be arriving August 22nd and start teaching Sept 1st. I'm not clear on my living accomodations yet, but I will be teaching in Thurrock.
Do you know of any gyms with a weight room and possible badminton I can get memberships too?
