duck feather's lack durability where as goose feather have better durability and can generally sustain better overall performance compared to duck feathers

It has much to do with the properties of the feathers.
In those, the goose wins over the duck.

In any case, the durability of their feathers has little to do with the birds' life-spans ;)

    A duck = around 10 years
    A goose = around 25 years
    A shuttle = a few points

A goose is a bigger bird than a duck, and it has stronger and thicker feathers, which explains its better durability over the duck.
However, there are duck feather shuttles that have better durability but not the solid feel. Goose feathers that are over-treated with bleach strip away the natural oils in the feathers, and although they play better than good quality duck feathers they are too brittle and do not last long.
