    Article from Badminton England:

Clark and Blair to pursue new goals

ANTHONY CLARK and Robert Blair, two of England's top doubles players, are to follow new challenges in the countdown to the Beijing Olympics next year.

Just 12 months ago the English National men's doubles champions took their partnership to a new level when they won the silver medal at the world championships in Madrid.

At the same time Clark's mixed doubles development moved forward apace when he reached the world final with Donna Kellogg before losing the battle for gold to their team-mates and friends Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms.

And after reaching the Yonex All England mixed doubles final in March, Clark (Nottts) has now decided to concentrate exclusively on mixed doubles with an eye to success in Beijing. So like team-mate and former partner Robertson (Notts), left-hander Clark, 30 in November, will now just concentrate on one event.

He and Kellogg are English National champions, having beaten Robertson and Emms for the first time in Manchester last February to avenge that world final defeat by the Commonwealth champions.

Blair, for his part, is all set to forge a new men's doubles partnership with another England international, David Lindley (Notts), and the 26-year-old will team up with Scotland's Imogen Bankier in mixed doubles.

Blair will launch his partnership with Lindley at the Bitburger Open in Saarbrucken from October 2-7, when he will also partner Bankier. They should have launched their mixed doubles partnership in the summer in Asia until Bankier was hit by illness but she is now back to full fitness.
