Hi experts, I need help with upgrading my racquet. I restarted badminton after a long time. I have 5 year old Carbonex 23 2U. I am getting good shots (my strength). But my defense is weak (can not drive a lot) and want to improve. My drops are good but there is lot of room to improve. I am planning to buy 3U racquet to get more responsive. I started playing seriously so I am wondering what is the best racquet to get. The options I can see in local store are Armotec (900 Power or Technique, 800,700), Nanospeed (9000 X and S, 8000 and rest of the series), MP 100, Arc Saber 7 and 10. Answering the questions: 1. How often do you play, how serious are you? thrice in a week. Serious. 2. What style of player are you? (Aggressive smasher, net player ...) Aggressive smasher. Plays both singles and doubles. But want to work on defense and drops as well. want to keep the smashing advantage I have intact. 3. Do you care much about durability or is it all about performance? More about performance 4. How much money do you want to spend? I can afford a good racquet.
If your are a good smasher then go for ARC10, AT900P, AT700 or MP100. If you are a defensive player, then go for ARC7, Nanospeed 9kS/X.
if it's real, then theres is usually a gold yonex sticker near the cone. no sticker means fake, unless they peeled it off..
There is also a way of telling whether it's fake or real by the serial code as well, but this requires some basic background knoledge of 'racquetology' There are of course, other factors such as the price tag, balance, etc.
How do I use the serial code? Is there any website I can put the numbers? The price range I am buying is 155 - 165 USD.
Thanks Heong, I am attacking player want a attacking racquet but I want some reasonable defense as well. Which of the attacking racquets mantain some reasonable defense.
You're a good smasher so an extra stiff would be good, but since you're trying to improve your defense as well I recommend you the NS8K or the AT-900T! Superb rackets! Enjoy, P.S. you'll love them once you got rid of that CAB23
If you are not confident about how to identify fakes, then purchase from reputable authorized local dealers. It's a safe choice and avoid a lot of risk and headaches.
My suggestion in order 1) Cab30MS 2) NS7700 3) AT900T Go to Yonex USa to find an authorized dealer near you. If you have to order on line, try www.badmintonalley.com. If you still have problem getting a Yonex, PM me and I will do my best.
going with AT900T Thanks guys for the responses. People in this forum rock. I cannot figure out anything from Yonex website which is too cryptic. I am going with AT900T.
just found AT 900T doesn't have 3U I just found from Yonex website AT 900T doesn't have 3U it has only 4U. Does 4U gives same power as 3U. Is it as stable as 3U? Is it easy to adapt from 2U to 4U? What is the string tension that I should put for this? for carbonex I used to put 23 lbs.
uhh, is that because you're in the states, we have yonex 3UG4 in Canada, so, if you really want a 3U, you can come up here and get it, or order it from an online website
Yes, Yonex USA do not carry 3U AT900T. If you wish to get other spec AT900-t, you will have to get a CD coded or overseas. If you are using a 2U Cab, a 4U AT is easier to adapt than a 3U AT. Power is generated by you, racquet is just a transfering tool. If you ise 23lb on cab, go for 22x24 or 22.5x25lb for the AT900t because the larger frame.
Ah.. sorry for my vagueness. I mean that the balance-point of the racquet should always be around the same place for each racquet, without any modifications. eg: A real strung AT700 3UG4 should have a balance point of around ~31cm without any modifications added to it ( taping the head, overgrips, etc. ) However a fake AT700 could have a head-light balance unlike a real AT700. The balance point could be around 27cm!! :O So.. if the balance point of a certain racquet is nothing near the usual balance point of the real version, then it would mean that it is most likely fake. ( once again, this is for racquets without any modifications. )
how to check balance point? 1. bring along a ruler 2. set the racket to balance 3. read the ruler for the measurement how to know every model's balance point? 1. i dont even know how to determine real or fake, you expect me to check the balance point?
Haha we're going a bit off-topic now.. Hmm..I lose.. how am I supposed to back up my statement.. >< Well, the buyer must do some research on racquets, maybe on BC to find out the average balance point of the racquet he/she is looking for. If the balance point of the racquet sold at a certain shop is.. totally off the average balance point, then there is a possiblity that it is fake. This goes for everything else such as the price.. and not only the balance point. ( sorry, i shouldn't have mentionned about the 'balance point'.. it's rather too hard to explain and it's not that important is it.. ><) Ah, I'm getting to a point: Do some research on the product you are interested in, before purchasing it! That's about all I can say. I'm not going to discuss about this topic because it's firstly off-topic, and also because I need to study more about *badminton equipmentology* before I say more about it
