I have to do that all the time. I hope the effectiveness of shadow footwork is beneficial. From what I have heard people say. Its not extremely good.

    Gday Mate :)

Well.. how to explain it.. you either imagine to play or pick the cock and move the cock to 4 different point area (sometimes 6).

Its just like you start from center => left front => center => left back => center => right front => center => right back (repeat for a couple times and do it fast).

May be this is an Indonesian term  for some sort of training.
    Mainly to improve movement.

BTW in Melb where you play?

deffinetly i always do shadow badminton, extreamly benificial for your footwork and agility on court. When you shadow a shot that your playing and do that around the court thats what we call shadow training here. theres also the shuttles and picking them up and moving them around the court that teaches you to stay low and works on footwork to an extent as well but both are benificial.

I was trying to put it nicely. I want to do, and have to do shadow training because I can't go to the gym all the time with birdies. But from what I have heard just from Badminton Central alone. People have said it doesn't help you a whole lot. I hope I'm wrong. I do them all the time.

This doesn't seem like the thread to ask. But I think the trick is you actually have to touch the ground and sweep it across the floor just a bit in order for it to come up. If you don't dare to go under it and don't dare to sweet under it but just try to flick it up, it won't work.

    Hello,

    Think it like this.

place 5 cock left front (just below the net).

Inline with the line (before the out box).
    You Start from center.

Pick 1 cock and move back to center then place
the cock to right front inline.

Repeat this and you may continue to place the
cock to side and to back.

Ohh yeah dont forget everytime you pick or place
the cock you must land with your right foot first
    if you are right handed.

    Man my knee is injured..

heres a crude way of showing it, there are differnt ones i do the one with 6 shuttles where you move a shuttle to every corner. theres also a 2 shuttle version one i do which you use 2 shuttles and move them to 2 diffrent courners with varying combinations of corners that one was introduced to my by my coach same with the other.

the one below is the 6 shuttle one. a shuttle for every corner of the court. so on the picture i attached each shuttle is a differnt color. you start in one corner and move each shuttle to a different corner and then when you have moved them all out you put them all back in the same corner and then move them to another of the 6 corners on the court usually going clockwise and then repeat. you want to try and make sure that you place the shuttles standing up as it makes it easier to pick them back up.

when your moving them out your shuffling and making sure to lunge the back corner that is located on yrou backhand you well yurn and put it down as if playign a backhand just resting it down. and as for the last one in the corner you started you pick it up and then put it back there and gather the others the same way you put them out shuffling around the court.

NOTE: the order of which shuttle goes where in the diagram in real life that doesnt matter you can do it any way that is just for demostrational puropses so you can see what i mean by it.

ALSO: this drill isnt as good as shadowing shots alone but it is very benificial it helps with your stamina as well as teaches you to stay low to the ground when moving aroudn the court. helps with speed and agility/explosiveness. etc.

It is beneficial. Heck, I saw LCW doing it using my own eyes a few years back on a video on TV or something before he was interviewed.

Oh ya, do remember while doing shuttle drills, you have to go back to the backhand side. First to do a backhand stroke and another overhead one.

shadow training, I think, helps big time. my officemates are embarassed doing it. One even said that its overacting. but I do it anyways. now look where it has gotten me. I'm slowly improving. the rest who are too close-minded to do techniques for improvement, on the otherhand, will remain stagnant.
