    Reuters Friday June 27 2008

    By Park Ju-min
SEOUL, June 27 (Reuters) - South Korea's hopes of badminton gold at the Beijing Olympics suffered a blow on Friday when the head coach of the national badminton team was suspended amid a police investigation into allegations of embezzlement.
The Korean Badminton Association said it had suspended head coach Kim Jung-soo, who is being investigated on allegations of misappropriation of public funds at a regional badminton organisation where he is an executive.
"We are worried about a coaching vacuum with only about 40 days left before the the Beijing Olympics," a spokesman for the association said by telephone.
"But at the moment we don't have any plan to choose someone to replace Kim."
The spokesman added that regardless of the outcome of the investigation, Kim might need to be kept on the sidelines due to the public outcry from the incident.
Badminton's image has been tarnished by recent negative publicity, including the sacking of the governing body's deputy president and Malaysian probe into match-fixing allegations.

^^Pic above is not of Kim Jung-soo..^^

..wow, more drama news, just before the Olympics. And there is even a suggestion that M'sia is probing into possible match-fixing allegations???..by who??..wow.. :p
..the pic above is not of Kim Jung-soo. Rather, that's LHI's coach, Li Mao (bald head guy).
Here is a pic of Kim Jung-soo, taken recently at the TC & UC tourney:

    Been reported where?

Without some official word on this incident, it'd be unfair to suggest that this was bought using embezzled funds.

& ctjcad, around 2 months ago,it was reported in Msia's press on football match fixing. It was some tourney (football fans can fill you in on this), football players were caught by the authorities on match fixing allegations.

Press reported that there were rumors of people trying to approach baddy players with such ehmm offers. Dunno whether the rumors true or not. Reports says it's cos, now there's sports betting on badminton too.
That rose concern on whether badminton has match fixing & BAM said they will monitor their players.

Personally I dont think it'll happen to badminton even if the bookies approach them, the top players earn more if they win. And they arent owed salary by BAM or the private club KLRC (as far as I know). Basically, the top players are quite well taken care of, no need to restort to such things.
