this is the camera that i've been waiting for :D

    http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond700/

    • same sensor as d3 (iso 200-25600) but also has sensor cleaning
    • built-in flash for use as a wireless flash trigger
    • flash sync 1/250s but can set a custom setting to make it 1/320s
    • 5fps, up to 8fps with the battery grip and more powerful battery
    • costs us$2999, but i found it in australia for a$3575 at european camera specialists

    droooooooooooolllllllllllllll

 looks great. Happened to see the D3 in the store the other day and it's huge. This one looks a lot more manageable :)
The D3 was either 5400 Euro or 4500 Euro but I think it was €5400 Euro so they'll probably swap $ with € again for the D300

    ^^Wow..^^

..that was a fast saving... ;)..Btw, which lens(es) are you planning to purchase?? If it comes before the Olympics, are you planning to use the camera to take badminton pics or for general usage in the Olympics??..If to take baddy action, you gotta get one of those fast telephoto lenses (assuming you'll be seating in the stands)..

there won't be any stock until the end of this month so i've still got a few more weeks to save $4000 :p

i'm only planning to buy a 17-35/2.8 to replace my 11-16/2.8 and 17-55/2.8 lenses. i've already got 28-75/2.8, 70-200/2.8 and 70-300/4-5.6 lenses. i'm thinking of bringing the 70-300 instead of 70-200 to save weight since d700 can go to iso 25600 :D

    ^^Oh, okay..^^

..i guess you're all set with the lenses:cool:..However, if you do bring one of those zoom lenses into the playing hall/field, i don't know if they'll allow you to bring those in with ease, esp. if you're not a member of the press. I'm not sure about their rules (if they'll allow non-press people to bring in such equipments), but check their regulations first, if i were you. I don't want you to lug all those extra weight only to be turned back and not allowed to bring in the zoom lenses..

if anyone in melbourne is interested, nikon is having a d700 pre-launch at camera house, qv (lonsdale st, next to westpac) on thursday 24 at 7:30pm. there will be free food and drinks and a lot of d700s to play with. you have to go to camera house (either their qv or elizabeth st stores) to register for free.
