Looks like rubber. Is it by any chance the grip is really grippy?

What do you mean by grippy??
Have personal tried it and find that it does not absorb sweat at all... Can actually see the sweat slighting off the grip when I'm playing with it...
Not recommended to those player with sweaty palm IMO...
Yup... You're right on...
Even the one in "black" seems like silver to me...
Haha...

Seems like a really old replacement grip. A grip that doesn't absorb sweat means that it is poorly made. A good grip should be able to absorb sweat so that the grip doesn't become slippery.

there are many different types of grips, some of the best grips don't absorb sweat cos some ppl like me don't actually sweat in the palm during badminton
while it doesn't hurt to use one that does absorb sweat, u can get much tackier grips if you don't sweat

Moggy is right. Some people don't have sweaty palms. Or in some cases (as has happened to me before), the grip is so good at absorbing sweat that your hands become really dry and your skin starts cracking.
But back on topic. This grip is alright. I much prefer the Beta counterpart (there's like Alpha, Beta, and I'm pretty sure 1 or 2 more greek letters). The ti Beta grip absorbs sweat much better and is thicker too. Ti Alpha absorbs less sweat and gives you a feel that's more... I guess closer to the handle. You feel like you're holding the handle, not the grip with ti Alpha.
