    1) a new racquet will make you that much better if your new
WRONG. SHOES WILL MAKE A MUCH BIGGER DIFFRENCE
    2) Yonex's chart says XXXX racquet is for XXXX Type of player
WRONG. GET WHATEVER YOU THINK FEELS GOOD. ANY DECENT RACQUET CAN BE GOOD FOR OFFENSE AND DEFENSE. (ie its the player not the racquet)
    3) High tension = high power
SEMI-CORRECT. If you can flex those strings at high tension then yes they will give you more power. But if you are weak and can not, high tension will only reduce your power.
    4) Head Heavy = bad for defense
WRONG. If you have enough strength, any racquet can be swung around just as easily.
    5) Yonex's recommended tension = MAX tension the racquet can take
WRONG. These limits were arbitrarily set, so Yonex wouldn't have to honour their warranty as much.

Can't think of anymore for now. Will add to when i think of some more

I say 4 is wrong because no matter how strong you are there is always a difference between heavy head and head light when it comes to defence.

We all know superman doesn't exist but can you imagine his smash. He would break the shuttlecock, string and racket.:eek::eek:

    ok.... ok.... i see
so, conclusion, string tension and head heavy/lite do matter if one need to choose for power or defensive play or all rounder or others.....
    thanks, phandrew...........:)

nope, do you think Lin Dan has problems defending with an AT700? Did LCW have problems attacking with his NS9000?

I would say for #4, head heav or heavy overall is HARDER to use for defense, but that doesn't mean one cannot defend well with a head heavy racquet.

So I'd say, head heavy racquet is worse at defending than a faster racquet, but there are always exceptions (AT900T easier to defend with than MP99, new Ti-10, NS9000, etc).

AT900T has a aero frame design so it might be why it performs better when it comes to defending.

Yup, but that it's still head heavy. I'm just pointing out that it's an exception to the common "head heavy = slow, head light = fast".

for LD, it won't make a difference if it were mortals like us smashing at him, however, it does make a difference for LD if Fu Haifeng is on the other end of the court pounding down the shuttle at 200mph. everything is relative.

Did LCW ever play with NS9000? I only saw him playing with NS8000.

He doesn't have to. Just the wind generated by the shuttlecock as it flies over the net would be enough to knock it down.
