    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are hosting the 2008 CPB Badminton Open this year at UTM (Univeristy of Toronto, Mississauga campus) on AUgust 9th and 10th! We'll have tons of prizes and shuttles are provided over the 2 day event! This is our 7th year hosting and it should be a pretty good one.

I'm interested in playing in this tournament. Is anyone looking for a MD partner?

Sorry but you're one day late, the dead line for registration has already pass.

Registration must be done in person (i.e. Please don’t tell us that your friend is GOING to arrive soon..) For those on the waiting list, it means that you will be put in the draw if someone else drops out. Of course we will try and contact you as soon as we can. You can wait during the registration period of the event that you are wait-listed for just in-case there are any last minute drop outs or no-shows.
Here is the itinerary of events of the two tournament days:

    Saturday, August 9th
8:00 – 8:30 AM - Registration begins for Men’s and Ladies doubles (you can also register for Mixed Doubles at this time)
    8:30 – 8:45 AM - Opening Ceremonies
8:45 AM - Men’s and Ladies doubles begins
    1:30 – 2:15 PM - Mixed registration begins
3:00 PM - Mixed doubles begins (rounds one and two, if there is time, we will play some of the 3rd round games)
    6:00 PM - End of Day 1

    Sunday, August 10th
8:00 – 8:30 AM - Registration begins for Mixed Doubles
    8:25 – 8:30 AM - Opening Ceremonies
8:30` AM - Mixed doubles continues
    11:00 – 11:30AM- Men’s and Ladies’ singles registration begins
12:00 PM - Men’s and Ladies; singles begins
    6:00 PM - End of Day 2

The draw format will be ABCD for all events. All matches will be played as best 2 out of 3 up to 21 points (rally system). The exception is that the 1st round of mixed doubles will be 1 game up to 31 points, rally point.

I left before the Men's Singles Finals started between Nathan Lee and Andy Lam. Does anybody know who won? Much appreciated!

    Overall Great Tournament.
    My 2 cents:
-I actually preferred the Humber College Gym compared to the UTM facility for playing badminton due to the difficulty in seeing the bird with the harsh/blinding light, white walls and the glare from the windows in the corners.
-The facility was fantastic (from non-badminton purposes perspective). A variety of food offered, tvs to watch the olympics, friendly and diligent staff and volunteers.

Can't wait to play next year!

How did 61 people in MS get done, when it started at 12:00 on Sunday? Must have ended at midnight...
