Hi all, I want to learn badminton and I guess the first thing to do is to buy a racket. Unfortunately, I am a poor student with not much money :crying:. I would like to know where can I find some cheaper deal for a racket? (I am in Montreal, canada) u guys buy racket online or in some chain shop? I will buy one racket and that will be my only racket, until I graduate several years after. I usually play double. SOTX Woven 11 sounds good to me. I guess I have the muscle strength to go with it. Or do u guys have some suggestions for me. And anyone have racket for sale here? Thanks so much
Hi kenkclam, welcome to BCBF!! What, you're on a tight budget and you're still eye-ing the W11 ? Anyway, please fill out the 'ultimate equipment questionaire': If you want a racquet: 1. How often do you play, how serious are you? 2. What style of player are you? (Aggressive smasher, net player ...) 3. Do you care much about durability or is it all about performance? 4. How much money do you want to spend? By the way, muscle-strength isn't everything. Having the correct technique enables you to generate so much more power, rather than just having alot of muscles but not the right technique. A little girl with the right technique could clear full court, but a bodybuilder without the right technique can only clear half-court Since you've pointed out the W11, I'm convinced that you're an offensive player. The Yonex Armortec500 would also be a reasonable choice too. edit: oh, and since the title is asking: 'where to find cheaper racket?' ,I suggest you to take a visit to www.wingeebadminton.com, they have some of the cheapest prices available for genuine yonex products.
Here are my recommendations for cheap places. Ibuysports - Sotx with free shipping to canada and usa Wingeebadminton - yonex Puppysports - Yonex and Sotx Try playing with Woven 7.
LOL you gave the same response as my friend, when he know I want a W11 with tight budget... maybe I am aiming too high LOL 1.once (2-3 hours) a week 2.not a particular style. I do wanna develop myself into an aggressive one 3. I hope it can last for 2-3 years. No needa be longer than that 4. this one is hard to say... depends on which racket... yes, so true. Technique is much more important. Thanks for ur suggestion, they are very useful, and very detailed
W11 and W7 have great power but W11 has a bit more. Defence is better for W7 but W11 has a durability issue with shaft.
I am getting ready to do a review on the 3 new rackets from Karakal....The best one is called the Tattoo....It has the greatest graphics I have ever seen and it plays better than any Yonex I have ever used....comes in headlite or even balance....sounds like you would want even balance...cost from www.giadinhsports.com is 100 usd... There is not a stronger frame on the market and if you dont hit a wall with it then it will last you many years...This racket really has it all together...control, touch and smash....The other 2 new rackets are the Revo 76 and 77....same frame as the Yonex ArcSaber and cost about 70usd. Karakal is England company that puts all its money into its products and does not do a lot of sponsoring of players...They are into producing the best they can for the best price...If you want to go for offense then the M-Tec 85 is the one for you to try....cost is about 60 usd...I strongly suggest you try the rackets before you spend your money and find out the racket does not play that well for you....You are new at this and wont find out what you want for quite awhile...You will have a lot more fun buying a racket that is "forgiving"....anyway check out Gia Dinh Sports web as they have super cheap prices for Karakal and YangYang products....Dont get caught up in the high price thing....high price does not mean it is the best...especially if your technique is not very good....ArcSaber is really good racket but if your technique is not really good then it plays worse than a 10 usd racket from China...Actually GDS has a beginners racket (the Kat) that plays very well and only cost 20 usd...I have been selling it to my students and they love it....Good luck and have fun
Haha I doubt that it will last for 2-3 years, because you will probably want to try another racquet with in a year or two Well, the W7 is a better choice for you. It's cheaper, more maneuverable and more durable as phandrew mentionned, the W11 has durability issues with the shaft.
Too bad i bought all the remaining W7 from ibuysports. I guess you can buy it was puppysports instead.
