    Hi everybody,

    I can't make up my mind !!
I don't know which to go for. The Sony with new Bravia2 chip or Samsung with 100 Hz technology.

Sony has a promotion and comes with a free Ps3.
Samsung comes with their top range Blu-Ray player for $35.

Both will work out the same, price wise after extended warranties etc.

I have done a lot of research but still can't make up my mind.

I watch sports, news, tv, some movies.

What do I do ? Any help or advice?

    Where else?
the ps3 is also a blu-ray player. so i guess that pretty much solves the "free" gift issue.

i checked out both sony 46w and samsung la46 before i bought mine.
    1) both uses samsung lcd panel.
    2) sony has softer picture while samsung has more build in function.
    3) sony has better decoding software imho.
    4) light panel for sony is better imho.
i end up buying sony at the end for $50 more than samsung.

    hi sh,

thanks !!! its good that i found somebody who have considered the 2.

did you consider about the 100/120 hz which come with the Samsung for sports viewing? or does the sony do it good enough already ?

    thanks again !!

I actually went to a store and look at them side by side. The truth is, something only looks good on spec. Your eyes can not tell the difference after 85hz. Same as 8ms vs 5ms response time. Depend on how you measured it, some 8ms response time monitor are better than 5ms response time monitor.

Depend on what system you have, DVD display 24 fps or 29.4fps. that mean it is running at max of 30hz. If that is the case, 100 vs 120 hz will not make a difference to your eyes. some reading for you on this.

woo hoo got my tv :) went with the sony just because it was a better package compared to what samsung was offering. a ps3 compared to just a blu-ray player from samsung. I figured as well that i would be happy with either tv and would not be able to tell the difference between the two.

SH would you be able to post your settings ? i am trying to play around to get the best picture.

    :)

    100% bravia goodness !!!

Just like string and tension preference, it depend on the user. I kept all my setting default except I adjust the brightness on the cinema mode 2 points higher for movie viewing. I also adjust the brightness down from standard 2 points for regular tv and sports viewing. I like Sony TV because of the default pictures and I do not need to adjust too much.

    1) what is your setting for color temperature? I have it on Neutral. Try Cool too.
    2) Adjust Hue if 1 does not work.
    3) try to set the picture mode to Cinema
