hi nanogy strings are made of nano technology. Are the string's nano coating fullerene? /darkwingduck
I can't find the thread and kind of interested, as for the past week I have been banging my NBG98 strings on my knee to lower tension, and wondering if there are any negative effects from this.
I second that. Whoever maybe stringers who will always touch that thing with bare fingers would be six inch under if that thing is toxic enough. Just a joke.
jesus...why is everyone so concerned...just like how everyone is worried about lexan bottles being cancerous...the carcinogens are so low that it prolly won't even affect you. Same thing with nano technology and fullerene....the amounts are so low that it will have no effect -.-
Nano Technology is a process not a thing....It is a description of activities at the level of atoms and molecules...A nanometre is a billionith of a metre which is about 1, 80,000th the diameter of a human hair... it is derived by adding Nano sized particles to the carbon to fill the gaps and voids that are formed when molding the racket, which in turn makes the racket stronger, more dense and also more responsive...I think one would have to break the racket and play with the pieces before one would have any chance of contact with the nano particles ...
Please feel free to add on two this, but I thought I read something about this stuff: It's not the nano-particles that are toxic. The carbon formed into a buckey-ball can trap certain atoms inside of it, and transport those where they go. ingesting a particle like that might cause you to get an infection, or something along those lines. Now, in our case of strings/rackets. How could a buckey-ball group split off, with something bad trapped inside, and get ingested? It's not going to happen.... ...I'm not pointing any fingers, but this is just plain hype and fear-spreading...
i like to twang broken strings by holding one end in my mouth and the other in my hand and then i play it with my other hand. but i have never used nano
'... In recent years, much research has focused on the potential health and environmental impacts of buckyballs and carbon nanotubes. Fullerenes have been shown to cause brain damage in fish and inhaling carbon nanotubes results in lung damage similar to that caused by asbestos. ...' Interesting after all.
there are lots of medical advancement in store for making use of nanotechnology. http://www.azonano.com/details.asp?ArticleID=1056 http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/15499634 http://www.nanotech-now.com/news.cgi?story_id=30038 http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1272/is_2737_135/ai_n16865349 if nanogy is dangerous, yonex will be sued. and FDA will ban all nano products into the USA
