    Default left knee problems

    hello everyone!
    I am a 11 year old kid training in BYC training camp I've been playing badminton for almost 2years I'm about 5'5 in height and 63kg in weight,during my first year of playing badminton i am not experiencing any pain in my left knee. but recently my left knee started to ache i think for almost 6 months now. can any one help me of how to solve my problems?

    Go to a doctor, they'll be able to examine you and diagnose you properly.

    It can be a muscle/tendon/ligament injury. The only way to find out is to go to a doctor.

    Knee problems will often involve liagments (ACL, MCL) or cartilage (meniscus). There is also a very common condition for athletes of your age known as Osgood-Schlatter disease. This is a type of growing pain resulting from sudden growth spurts. Did your height increase significantly in the past year?

    It would be nearly impossible to diagnose your knee problem in this forum. So, as the 2 previous posters suggested, go see a doctor. In the mean time, it would probably be a good idea to ice your knee several times a day. But do not apply the ice directly to the skin unless you keep it moving -- as in an ice massage. Ice as soon as possible right after badminton (but not immediately before badminton).

    Make sure that you use proper shoes for playing badminton and for other sports. Inferior or mis-fitting footwear can cause knee problems & other leg issues. It might not be a bad idea to also see a foot specialist to see if you have special needs for your footwear.

    @SystemicAnomal- thanks for your detailed answer.nope i dont think my height is increasing very much. and i use yonex shb 66.It came out when i did i jump smash . i think it was my jump then?should i consult a sports medic or an orthopedic doctor?

    Osgood-Schlatters is very common, but it does not have to be associated with a recent growth spurt. It is problem in certain young atheletes. To keep it from getting worse, you need to be patient and careful.
    I agree with those who tell you to see a doctor.

    It could still be OSD even tho' you don't think that you've experienced a significant growth spurt recently. You said the you are are 5'5" but only 11 years old -- I assumed a recent growth spurt.

    Consulting an orthopedic doctor might be a good idea. If it turns out that it is not OSD, it might be best to see a foot specialist as well.
