Good afternoon, My name is Mike and I am a researcher for NBC Olympics. I wanted to let you know that I appreciate this website and find it very valuable for links and opinion. Part of the broadcast is dedicated to finding information on certain players and even establishing contact with some of the participants for purposes of enriching the broadcast. Does anyone here know someone who is participating that I can contact (player, coach, family, etc.)? If so, send me a PM and I will give you my NBC contact info to show that this is a legitimate operation. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
^^Welcome..^^ ..to BCBF, mike1216 (Mike)!...Well, as for your query, any specific player, coach you are interested in finding out some infos in??..PM me if you are interested in more infos. Anyway, glad you can be a part of this yr's Olympics experience and this forum!
It's unclear if your research is limited to badminton or is on all Olympic sports. It's also unclear if your focus is on American participation or is much wider. If you mean 'badminton players at the Beijing Olympics', click here and here. To get in formal touch with the players (and this might be difficult during the competition phase), you will need to go through the respective national associations Nevertheless, a few members could help you out with informal contacts. Of course, bonafides will need to be ascertained before any move is made.
For Mike.. Mike, not sure if you've seen this link below, but OCBC is the club where all of the current U.S. badminton Olympians have trained/competed the last 4-5 yrs, at least. http://www.ocbadmintonclub.com/ As for the players' infos themselves, you can do a Search on them. Most of their infos should be in the Professional Players' sub-forum.
1) Welcome Mike. 2) Please ask NBC kindly to mention ctjad's real name (may be nickname too) during the broad cast....
My partner Ben called them and spoke with (I think) Don Chew as a point of contact. We may use him in case we need some personal facts about one of the participants or something that has to do with human interest. We may not even use him at all. It's not up to me to decide who gets their name on the air but I will pass this site and Chris' name along to someone who might. If I can't get your name on the air maybe I can make a donation to the site. It's the least I can do for you guys. - Mike
I believe that was, er, just in jest PS: We'd be content with whatever you can do to promote badminton.
1) Thank you Mike for doing what you do. 2) Don't rub Chris and Don's 15 sec of fame. Wait, it takes less than 5 sec to say both of their name together. 3) did you miss "'t" from "Don Chew"? Sorry Don, I have to crack this one. I can kick my @ss when I come over to OCBC to visit you guys later this year.
Good.. ..glad you can reach them and sorry if that's the only "effective" contact, i can give, for the U.S.' badminton Olympians. Hope your managing director can find a bit more useful infos. Btw, Don Chew is the owner/man in charge of OCBC. And yes, he's contributed a lot to badminton in the U.S. *I'm just trying to help out, nothing more. And I'm sure there are a couple other point of references/contacts for this.(other BCers feel free to help out).
