Another busy day (esp in the morning) for INA & MAS fans with full schedule of QF matches in the Men's Singles and Mixed Doubles.

    Morning Session
10:00 Chen Jin [4] vs Hsieh Yu-Hsin -- nobody expected the Chinese-Taipei player to progress this far and if he shows the same resilience towards Chen Jin, we might be in for a surprise perhaps?

10:45 XD QF He Hanbin/Yu Yang [4] vs Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk -- He/Yu are the only hopes for CHN to retain their XD Gold Medal now...and they will face their bogey pair who has beaten them twice. They are clear favorites to win though.

11:30 MS QF Sony Dwi Kuncoro [6] vs Lee Chong Wei [2] -- this is the match all MAS fans are anticipating! Lee Chong Wei has to bear the burden of the whole nation and the weight of that might just get to him. However, he does have an edge over Sony and under normal circumstances, he should prevail.

12:15 XD QF Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam -- meeting of the old foes....and Nova/Butet hold a clear advantage, although Sudket/Saralee did beat them in the Denmark Open and SEA Games last year.

    Night Session
18:30 MD QF Lee Hyun Il vs Bao Chun Lai [5] -- 45-55 to Bao and unless Lee performs extraordinarily well, I don't see Bao losing this one.

19:15 XD QF Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung vs Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- the second tough match for Robertson/Emms and it should be another thrilling encounter. If they can show the kind of form that beat Zheng/Gao, I would say the ENG pair could progress.

20:00 MD QF Lin Dan [1] vs Peter Gade [8] -- matches between these 2 players have been quite tight in the past. However, Lin Dan is supremely confident and nothing less than a Gold will be deemed satisfactory.

20:45 XD QF Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [3] -- a tougher match beckons for the third-seed and I hope they show the same kind of performance as the first match.

I agree with all of your predictions...but still hope Sony make us smile as Kido/Hendra did it after they won in QF match....

LYB is asking a lot of Yu Yang putting her into the WD final and hoping she'll get to the XD final too.

The matches are not on the same day? For bronze medal match she still has to play anyway so it makes no difference, that's why LYB let them decide.

Sony has a 30% chance of winning against LCW... :) I'm not being harsh... that's better than Maria Kristin's 20% chance of winning against Tine Rasmussen a few days ago... [and Maria won!]... he he he...

    CHEN Jin vs HSIEH Yu-Hsing
    easy 2 setter

    HE Hanbin / YU Yang
vs MATEUSIAK Robert / KOSTIUCZYK Nadiezda

KUNCORO Sony Dwi vs LEE Chong Wei
lee is in excellent form and should prevail in 3 games.

WIDIANTO Nova / LILIYANA vs THOUNGTHONGKAM Saralee / PRAPAKAMOL Sudket
this game will be closer than some imagine. the thai's will put up a good fight, but will ultimately lose in 3.

LEE Hyunil vs BAO Chunlai (match of the night)
this decision was hard, but i feel that the korean will pull a semi-big upset. if bao wants to win, he has to be patient, willing to play those long rallys and must feed off the crowd's energy when trailing. these two players are so closely matched that it can go either way. the slightest of edges to lee in 3 games.

LEE Yongdae / LEE Hyojung vs ROBERTSON Nathan / EMMS Gail
lee will be pumped after losing so early in MD. the koreans in 2.

LIN Dan vs GADE Peter Hoeeg
like ive said before, super dan in 2. it will be very difficult for gade to win. bringing lin dan to 3 will be a huge accomplishment.

LAYBOURN Thomas / JUHL Kamilla Rytter vs MARISSA Vita / LIMPELE Flandy
laybourn and juhl will need to play a near flawless game to win. if not, the indo's in 2.

I agree with your predictions, I hope LD vs. PG will be a thrilling match, even though LD will probably win.

Heart said Sony, but I just don't see how he can beat LCW... MAS#1 has been solid throughout his matches so far. Same with LD and PG..... but maybe Peter and Sony can surprise me .
Hope INA XDs squad plays to form and secured SF berth :)

my prediction on day 4 was 22/24
my prediction on day 5 was 6/8

so given that trend, none of you should even pay any attention to what i gonna predict today as i will be as good as a flipping a coin.

    CHEN Jin vs HSIEH Yu-Hsing
tough match for Chen Jin. Hsieh is a dark horse and he is 5000K red hot in previous matches. it will be a 55/45 game.

HE Hanbin / YU Yang vs MATEUSIAK Robert / KOSTIUCZYK Nadiezda
He/She was impressive against the British in early round.

KUNCORO Sony Dwi vs LEE Chong Wei
oh this is a tough one. hope to see Sony win but LCW is too strong, who do i go to to buy off a few service and line judges? (ok. bad joke)

WIDIANTO Nova / LILIYANA Natsir vs THOUNGTHONGKAM Saralee / PRAPAKAMOL Sudket
heart definitely goes to Saralee/Sudket, but if their previous performance is of any indication, Nova/Lilyana will take this one.

    LEE Hyunil vs BAO Chunlai
Bao has been consistent mentally and technically.

LEE Yongdae / LEE Hyojung vs ROBERTSON Nathan / EMMS Gail
    kill them!

LIN Dan vs GADE Peter Hoeeg
i cannot even remember when Peter beat LD the last time. Peter i am afraid is not at his prime.

LAYBOURN Thomas / JUHL Kamilla Rytter vs MARISSA Vita / LIMPELE Flandy
tough call. TL/KRJ has not been playing too well lately while Flandy/Vita are more consistent.

Good news that Flandy did not have the match early morning in OG.
Look at all his losses at previous tournaments, all losses happensif he plays before 10 am....he is not a morning person....we make a joke on him everytime we see the schedule of tournament........
