    Kwun:

I am sorry but when I did a search on shuttle, 100s of thread came up and most of them are irrelevant. Should I spend hours browsing through 100s of threads or should just click button and post a new one? Hmmm.... the choice is easy for me.

It would be nice if the search engine allows you to search an exact phrase.

    Default benfok..

ben, try the search function first. If nothing comes up then post a question about the topic you want answers to. Basic rule to all forums around the world.

    Hi,

The RSL Official shuttles that I have you used don't seem to be really consistent in their durability. Sometimes, the feathers are pretty brittle and break off quite easily.

Is there a particular method to store the shuttles to allow them to play better or last longer?

To most Malaysians (that I know, anyway), durability will definitely play a great role in shuttle selection. Most would settle for a cheaper but durable shuttle without thinking too much about the consistency in flight pattern, balance although those attributes are still taken into context. But then again, durability translate into flight consistency, no?

Perhaps it's due to the popularity of the game here that we got a host of shuttle brands to try out and use. A lot won't bother to buy Yonex as I think it's overpriced, simply not worth it as lots of other shuttles are almost as good or better at half or lower price.

At least to us weekend warriors. Some tournaments don't use Yonex anyway.

    Talk about luxury of choice!

Btw, here are the ones I've used :

ProTech (green) - average in terms of durability and flight consistency. The feather gets ruffled pretty quickly.

ProTech (red) - very good in durability. Normal flight patterns.

Sea Lion (red) - quick to ruffle. The feather breaks quite easily. I don't really like this one however popular it is.

Yonex AS50 - I have to agree that this one flies the best. I do agree with kwun that this one feels somewhat harder and heavier. Too expensive. Super-unpopular.

Yonex AS30 - Nothing special, to me, apart from the fact that the cork lasts pretty long. The feather, is a different story altogether...

Carlton (yellow-black?) - This one sucks big time. Two big smashes and the shuttle will be deformed too much to fly properly. Avoid.

Wilson (silver-black) - One of the worst brand of shuttles I've ever used. Two big smashes and the head CRACKS. This had been confirmed by the cracking of 24 shuttles from big smashes. AVOID like a plague! Cheap though.

AcePower (blue) - now, this is perhaps the best I've ever used apart from AS50. It's durability is the longest I've known of all shuttles, not even the AS50 can last this long. Once we used one shuttle for two consecutive games and the shuttle only had badly ruffled feathers at the end of the second! The cork stays in shape without problems.
My favourite; will buy more of this the next time it's my turn to provide. Not very cheap though, about RM 40 per tube.

RSL Silverfeather - nothing great apart from the nice packaging. Performs very much like the red label Sea Lion.

All comments came from my own experience so, read with a pinch of salt. Or oregano.

    Ayl,

Who is your supplier? The shuttle market is diverse, whith many small players,
Snowpeak, RSL and Aeroplane (and to some extent Carlton?) are a few going round Melbourne.

The history with Epsilon goes back to days suppling shuttles, tracksuits to Badminton Australia as part of Sponsorship. Former Australian No 1 Singles player,
Murray Hocking was contracted to Epsilon as a player, and now works for them.

Former Australian No 1 Ladies Doubles player Rhonda Cator was a Carton agent, don't know if she still is.

    As far as I know:

    For RSL and Aeroplane try
    Ko Beng

In Sydney they have Josan Arrow 300, Aeroplane and swallow.
    You can tryAndrew

In Brisbane they have Yang Yang and Yonex
    You can trySunrise Sports

    Regards
    Stuart
