I like what i saw from the polish team, so many potentials (they sent quite a huge badminton team), and i think they have what it takes to emerge as top european badminton powerhouse. Wacha's perfomance in MS against Bao, although people were expecting him to get canned, but he sure pulled up a good fight. At least he can walk out with his head held high. The MD(robert/michal), once again, great game against the top danish pair. 17-21 , 21-11 , 21-15 , both of them are in their 30's unfortunately, i do hope they can achieve something great in the next tournaments such as china open, the world championship next year. In XD, man that was a nail bitting game. i was watching the game at a mamak store (took half day off work ) and everyone was cheering for the polish team against the chinese. what a close match, they must been heart broken for not winning the first set, so close yet so far this robert dude i love his spirit and determination. And of course Nadiezda's (shes still young, only 24) ability to cope under pressure So the polist team deserve some credits any polish fans in here!??? Poland flag is like the mirror image of the indonesian flag, any connection here?
wacha has potential he played very well against bao. Even though he lost he did it without giving up.
wacha has always been dangerous....he beat chen yu at the china super series I think....I expected bao to lose by a really close margin but maybe bao had better stamina or else he would be in trouble...but then again..he's already out =)....
i agree with you kz haha. Wacha kind of ran out of gas in the second set and started to lose points. If wacha had an better stamina he may of took out bao.
a long detailed interview on Robert http://www.badzine.info/index.php?o...-mateusiak-speaks&catid=79:olympics&Itemid=48
Polish players It is true that we have a great group of 5 top players. Unfortunately there are no one other in Poland to support that group and replace in the future... In my opinion Polish did very well in Beijing, they were close to do the upset (as doubles did in Athens when they won in the first round against Trikus/Sigit), but they did not managed to win any unexpected match. I have been following they results from the beginning of their carrier and Polish MS (Wacha), MD (Łogosz/Mateusiak) and MX (Kostiuczyk/ Mateusiak) are capable to win with anyone. Especially mixed pair has it all. Unfortunately from some reasons they cannot put a dot over i (we said that in Polish). Robert and Nadia had 3 game points in the first game against Chinese pair (which they already won against couple of times) and they were playing better. I am sure the Chinese, after losing first game and being last hope after Zheng/Gao exit, would become nervous whwreas Polish pair more relaxed. Anything could happened then… Unfortunately He/Yu did well, saved 3 game points and won the match… There must be something with they mental strength – they lost in the final of Europeans after winning first game and leading well in the second… Wacha won two matches, then surprised Bao, won a game against third seed, that is really something. Our MDe were too nervous to win against Danish pair. It looked to me that Michał Łogosz was not in the top form in the third game. But Polish pair newer won with Lars/Jonas… Nevertheless I feel proud withe the Polish them and hope they can maintain their level some more years. Robert said he wants to go to London (it will be his fourth Olympics) but he will be 36 that time. Nadia is young enough to continue her carrier... If you need some info re Polish players just let me know Cheers dzgdz
May I know what started the badminton movement in Poland that they were able to produce these 5 top players? Who or which group prompted badminton progress in Poland? And how did he/she/they do that? I just want to learn other countries' stories...
wait in the line chongy Nadiezda Kostiuczyk http://www.bjoernjoppien.de/anja.htm translation anyone? http://badminton.mimuw.edu.pl/index.php Przemyslaw Wacha How tall is Robert Mateusiak? on wikipedia it says he is only 1.67cm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Mateusiak Poland's Robert Mateusiak (L) and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk in action against China's Zheng Bo and Gao Ling during mixed doubles quarter final match of the World Badminton Championships in Kuala Lumpur August 17, 2007. they lost to Zheng Bo and Gao Ling 21-16, 21-17
Wacha is a good player. Too bad he's not that young anymore. And he's the only Polish MS I know... There's a strikethrough-ed L letter in Logosz' name. How to pronounce it?
So Wacha weeks ago claims position in first 10 of the world ranking. But I like some other ours players: MS Dariusz Zięba WS Dorota Grzejdak XD Mateusiak - Kostiuczyk is my favourite But we have one chinese born player Linling Wang her citizenship is still in progress. She won 2099 Yonex Polish Open She is amazing
i only know Wacha too...& a Russian player who ptner Limpele at All England... but it's good more Polish or Russian players come out at least England & Denmark will "fear " em'.......hahaha
anybody knows what's happen to Kamila augustyn ? She've been disappeared for a long time. I wonder what she's next step.
