Im actually using a Yonex Armortec 700, new model, 3u and I kinda like it, but I would like to have a little more pop on the smash. Im actually checking out for some SOTX rackets that seem pretty good and not too expensive compared to Yonex. Im interested in a couple : Woven 7, 7i, 8, 11. I guess my main choice will be between W7 and W11. I would like to have advices about which one to choose. Im an aggressive/smashing/mainly double player. Id be glad to have a better or equal quality while paying less than for Yonex.

Ill be waiting for your advices.

    Thank You!

Go with SOTX W7 or W11. I think W7 will be better for you since W11 has a shaft durability issue but W11 is a more powerful racket compared to W7.

I bought my last racket at www.maxsports.ca and was satisfied by his reliability, price and shipping. So I will probably buy my next one there also. And I dont event think he is offering the Woven 11, he has the Woven 11i, which isnt the same. He has the Woven 7 though, but its strange cause the photos he has from the W7 dont look like the other ones I saw, like the ones on www.sotxsports.com ...

ibuysports(free shipping to USA and Canada) and puppysports are cheaper than maxsports.

hmm...is this a replacement racket or a backup raccket?

because i think you should try re-stringing your AT700 first.

i personally play that racket, and i've tried all different tensions and strings. i feel just by changing the strings there will be plenty of difference.

if your at700 is a 3U, I doubt the w7 would give you 'more pop'...But that's just my guess....
    I'd say, go for the w11, w11A, or w11i.

to what extend do you expect equipment to aid you?

don't expect great changes...somethings feel slightly easier, somethings won't...

Your game will not improve much from switching rackets. AT700 is a top level racket (just as the W11, Arc10, Ti-10 etc etc. ) the real improvement comes from training. The important thing is to find a racket, that you feel comfortable with and gives you that "oomp" when smashing etc..

You have to consider your style, swing (and especially swing speed) when considering if you want stiff or flexy shaft, overall weight and balance, and of course combination with strings/tension.. its the overall package (which you yourself is an integrl part of) that determines the performance..

My advice would be to stick with the AT700, if it is within your budget.. Its a great racket. Sotx wovens are also great, and as I see it more "bang for the buck". If you can afford buying a different model, for example a Woven 11, would be fun and then you can compare which one you likes the most..If you have the opportunity, borrow some rackets from friends to test out, so you get a better feel what you like, don't like in a racket.

I dunno where Puppysports is situated but the shipping cost is pretty high. And I have to extra-pay if the box crossses the canadian borders.

so if I wanna try something new I should go with the Woven 11, not the 7? I would surely want to try some SOTX rackets before buying, but no one in my town is using one.

Should I consider the fact that the shaft is supposed to be weak on the W11...?

I've seen about 20 woven 11's pass through my hands. Not one returned broken.

DinkAlot, a regular forum member - and notorious racketbreaker :p - has broken about 4.
Now, taking into account Dink has broken about 50 or more rackets and has a unique specialty for breaking almost every 680mm-long racket he has ever owned...

I think it's a bit overblown to call the w11's defective...

well, the best you can do is try out more rackets...

advice/recommendation via a forum are just that 'recommendations'...
Look around your club, borrow some else their stuff...

If you want to have some fun, and test something new out, then a w7, 7i or w11 are fun to try out... They might suit you better, they might not, not much we can do about it:eek:
