I am looking for clarification about the following question: in a doubles game, if players' rackets collide (clash) then is that considered a fault. I have read badminton laws but wasn't finding that helps clarify this to me. Thanks. Tosh.
Just to elaborate further, the clash of rackets happens between players playing as doubles partners, attempting to return shot to opponents. illusionistpro, I would definately blame my partner for swinging at 'my' shot and perhaps that will be end of that partnership!
It would be hard to tell whether the racquets touched the shuttle at the same time before it crosses the net.. unless, they had cameras & they put it in slow motion. This is a rare occasion.
And one has to be right handed and the other has to be left handed to hit the birdy at the same time with the top of the racket's frame. I doubt this will ever happen. Most likely when racket clashes occur, it is never both players hitting the birdy.
This really depends where you play, but the majority of the people are right handers. In fact, right handed is so common that it doesn't even get a special name, where else there is one for left handers because its so rare. So i think right/lefty combination is not very common. Furthermore, the place i play at, usually people are both right handed. But yea, its not uncommon to be right/lefty combination, but there arn't that many.
As long as only one racket hits the shuttle, partners can do with their rackets what they want. Rackets clashing in the excedution of a shot indeed happens more fequently than one would be inclined t think and it does not constitute a fault.
Well, if you are referring to if both rackets touch about the same time, then essentially it is a double touch.
It will always be a fault when both rackets touch the shuttle, for that you do not need a clash. However, in case of a clash, the clash itself remains a non-item as long as only one of the two rackets touches the shuttle
