I will be happy for the Datukship offered to Chong Wei. But one thing i don't feel comfortable is that "Datukship" is too easy to get nowadays. Instead of Datukship.. it would be good if the sports person get a medal of honor or some sports titles instead of Datuk.
They never think of the consequences when they offer Datukship to people. What if in the future we have more Olympians that get Silver or something? We would probably have more Datuks.

Anyhow i'm happy for Chong Wei. I would probably tease him. Weather Datuk or not.. he will still be the same old chong wei i know.

Watch and see how you can not feel angry and disgusted as Chong Wei and MALAYSIA'S silver medal is paraded around in Permatang as political fodder. As if the silver medal has become Barisan's.

MALU LA! SHAME SHAME SHAME! IT IS DISGUSTING! MY RESPECT FOR CHONG WEI JUST GOT A LITTLE LOWER! ARE YOU A MALAYSIAN OR ARE YOU A BARISAN POLITICIAN?

    Cannot stand it already. Aargh.

When the day comes where politics and sports become so intertwined you, Chong Wei, you will be one of the main culprits.
I thought the sole focus should be on Chong Wei for what he has achieved in Olympics but it turned out to be a political campaign for a by-election. It's a pity that the heroic feat of a sportman is valued in such a way.

Wait.... if LCW gets Datuk title, then Misbun should get one too, for his hard work in training LCW, ha ha.
Somehow giving Misbun a Datukship and calling him Datuk Misbun sounds more appropriate because of his seniority than the one given to LCW. LCW may feel uneasy wearing it and being addressed as such.

I don't think giving a "Sultan" or "Saint" title to kwun is meaningful to him!

Misbun to Chong Wei: "Halo, Datuk, please run 2 km around this track under ? mins, okay? Fitness is your strength. Then after, hit the gym, okay Datuk? I'm going to have some roti and check back on you."

You people should really see LCW getting the datukship in the context of current Malaysian politic. BN government is doing a epic by election with opposition de facto leader Anmwar Ibrahim in Permatang Pauh soon. This by election is too important to BN government as Anwar claim he want to topple the BN government in September. So BN is making LCW as a symbol of national achievement under the leadership of BN government. Didn't you guys see national newspaper Sin Chew Jik Poh reported both BN and opposition were organising various event to celebrate LCW success in getting the OG silver medal? Both side tried very hard to "associate" LCW's victory with them? It is just part of political strategy and propaganda.

BN is smart enough to know that giving rewards and honour to LCW will please the chinese community in Permatang Pauh. Just part of their tactics to swing the Chinese votes to BN.

It is no big deal. So what if one is called datuk??

I am proud of LCW achievement and think that LCW should be handsomely rewarded but to get a datukship now? I think it is too early. Don' thinlk it is a good idea. LCW and Misbun just announce they will foucs on next achievement which are Asian Game and Next Oplympic didn't they?I think it is not too late to give LCW datukship when he win gold medal in these events or even next World championship.

    .
Yeah. That's why Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock only got runner up in Olympic 1996 and World Championship 1997. They were too spoilt

Errrrrr, we DO know, I did say it's one-upmanship - "you give, I also give, I show I can give more, etc". I think Msian BCers know abt the connection to the by-election, cannot talk abt politics in BC mah, so we dont mention so directly.

Oh yeah, the Berita Harian sports journalist took pot shots at all these ppl trying to get free ride on LCW's achievement. He said where were they when LCW was struggling in 2006 & 2007, when LCW was severely critised ?

And according to what I heard, Guang Ming Daily reported that LCW is he's being used as political mileage. He said dont use him to pull votes over in Penang.
Sthing abt LCW being "kidnapped", flown to Penang in private plane instead of the commercial flight which he already bought ticket for. tsk tsk, starting to sound like some thriller series.
The guy had just finished battling in OG on Sunday, flew back to Msia early Monday morning. Then, Tuesday had to go see the Prime Minister, Wed had to fly back hometown, dont get rest also.
