Are there any places to play in Kelowna BC or any of the surrounding areas like Summerland, Penticton?

I just moved here recently from Ontario and was looking for some recreational play.
I'd say I'm an intermediate player. I have played competitively as well.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanx:D

    Txyu,
Check out www.badmintonbc.com for a list of places to play in BC.

For Kelowna, there is the Kelowna Badminton club (http://kelownabadminton.ca) or contact B. Wyatt at 250-768-1684

or John McGuinness at 250-763-3013 for the Mt. Boucherie Badminton Club.

For Penticton, contact Ross Axworthy at 250-492-6876 for the Penticton Badminton club and Shaun Johnston at 250-494-1513 for the Summerland badminton club.

I've never played at any of the above places so I can't give you any more information than what was listed above.

    Kelowna ?

    Hi !!

I was there on business in September '00. For the 'Demo 2000' exhibition. Stayed in Penticton. Nice town !! Pretty friendly people too .... And the view across the lake when Autumn breaks is simply spectacular !!!

Hmm .... perhaps can look Winex when I do ever drop by Vancouver again .... I do have business dealings there ...

But its some 4-5 hours drive out from Vancouver city as far as I remember ...

there is a badminton club in summerland, it has 2 dedicated courts and the yearly fee is quite cheap and gets u a key..

but i dont' think ppl play there during summer since it is very hot and no a/c there..

    Hi,

I'm visiting Kelowna this weekend (Aug 2 - Aug 3) and would like to visit/play at Kelowna Badminton Club. There are two of us, intermediate level.

Any kind soul can sign us in Sat and Sun?

It's feathers, right? And we have to provide our own?

    Thanks.

Hmmm.... not sure about the name of the club, but i do believe one exists on the outskirts of Kelowna, at one of the local post secondary institutions.

The club isnt as busy in the summer and the club is only accessed with a member key card. If you plan on playing you will need a member there to sign you in. I would call first to make sure someone is there and ask if you can drop in.. As most of the summer players play in set groups and will be difficult to mix in with. Mostly feather used. Shuttles can be purchased through someone on the executive if they are there.
A lot of older players play weekend mornings.. You can message me if you need help with anything.
