I had this crazy idea. With so much arguments about who is superior in so many threads and resulting in some being closed, why dont we BC members try something maybe not done before?

Why dont we try to set up a 1 off match winner takes all between TH and LD. Lets say a USD10,000.00 prize money (maybe from sponsor) PLUS each of TH and LD can put their own money on the line (additional wager) for more pressure. This could be like an exhibition match with a lot at stake (financially and name sake). The sponsor can earn from TV rights and tickets.

Some BC members know TH and LD personally. We can try to ask them if they are willing to do this. This will not be an WBF event.

Who knows? Maybe BC will make history!!

    Kwun, Khrisna, Huangkwokhau, any comments?

(Kwun, sorry if its inappropriate, you can delete this thread)

You wanna see LD do to TH like what he did to LCW in OG2008 final?

this is a 1 off match and with so much at stake, TH might get extra motivation to shape up. Anyway as i said in the beginning, "its a crazy idea"

There's nothing to prove. Taufik didn't even make it past the round of 32. His teammate, Sony Dwi Kuncoro at least made it to the quarterfinal against Lee Chong Wei, where he was.., well, yea.

    ahh..u got it partly wrong.
Taufik had his own time.He is a world beater in that period.Just how Lin dan had experienced by now.
    They are both respected.
Just in 2008,taufik is no longer world beater. His 1st round knock out proved it.
how he lost the game..i couldnt imagine that was taufik.
that is why we couldnt compare taufik and lin dan now.one is on the top of the hill ,one is on the bottom

I was merely basing my opinion on their Olympic performances, as this thread was posted today.

Really, though, I don't think that athletes of their caliber need to be or are so avaricious. We needn't incite the sordid elements of humanity.

Um, is George Best or Pele or Ronaldinho the greater player?

Neither Taufik Hidayat nor Lin Dan needs to prove anything :)
Without doubt, both of them are exceptionally gifted players.
In their many confrontations, each has managed to upstage the other.
Nothing further will be established by pitting them against each other in one more match ;)

i thot of that already:p It is called badminton skins, similar to golf, only the top and most famous players get to play. No round 16, 32, 64, QF, SF or final, just cash if u win. LD, TH,LCW,BCL, PG,CJ, get to fight it out

Maybe it would be interesting if we had a time machine... but as it stands *currently* it wouldn't even last 30 minutes I bet :(.

as i said its a "crazy idea". but if they had to put their own money on the table as extra bet (on top of the sponsor's prize) then it might be a different outcome. the casual players like us knows how a can of pocari (as a bet) can make someone a different player. some players can be good but when their own money is at stake its completely different. again its a crazy idea. :)

I feel sorry for the people betting for TH.. ;(

TH is in bad form, it would not be a good idea to compare him with a fitter LD.
Lin Dan beat everyone in 2 straight sets in OG.
Peter Gade, Lee Chong Wei, Chen Jin gave it their all & cannot win a set off LD.

If the match held today, well, Lin Dan would obviously win...

If only we could see a match between 2003-2005 Taufik vs 2007-2008 Lin Dan.

Ah well, it's just like comparing Just Fontaine and Lionel Messi...:p

if wan to compare this 2 guy TH vs LD .maybe can like this. TH hv his OG ,Asia Games and World Cup title. LD still no hv Asia Games tittle. So wait and see LD can get Asia games title or not . if LD cannot then TH is still the best player which hv this 3 big badminton games title

asian title is not a big title. LD had beaten TH 2 out of 3 times in 06 AG. If u count on one of those 3 head to head as more important, sure, go ahead but statistically, TH lost to LD 2 of 3 matches in 06 AG

Agreed. How can AG be a major if only consists of Asisa Countries? Why not counts the number of 6* tournments plus All-England. I don't have the stat, but I believe LD win more.

For an exhibition game feature the world's best player against an over-the-hill player, I wonder who will be interested. :) Not me. I would rather pay to watch LD vs LCW.
