    Greetings,

    Received today, an invitation to our CCC players to participate in the 12th Australian Masters.

    Australia’s largest multisport festival is coming to Geelong, from 20 February – 1 March 2009.

    Why not participate in one of 70 different sports with your friends and family and enjoy a summer holiday?

    The 12th Australian Masters Games is a ten day sports and entertainment festival open to people over the age of 30, regardless of sporting background or ability. Held biennially, the Games are run by the Confederation of Australian Sport (CAS), the peak body for sport in Australia.
    Registrations for the Games are now open.

    Participants can use the simple and easy to use Online Registration System at www.AustralianMastersGames.com or phone 1300 725 266 to arrange for a Registration Booklet to be posted.

    (Note: this is a different event from the 2009 World Master's Games which are being held in Sydney. Both include the sport of badminton so it would be great to see some Victorian players registered!)

    Cheers... chris-ccc

    Hey Chris,

    I'm in the process of organising a team for Geelong in Feb for some guys here in Brisbane. I have interest from two other guys including Kong. I have a tentative yes from one lady and possibility of at least one other but I'd be interested in hearing from anyone you know there that would like to play.

    The intention at the moment is to organise accommodation down there in Geelong for the duration of the competition. The youngest player will be me (43).

    Regards,
    Peter

    I am a 45+ female badminton player who was part of a group that was coming to the Masters games in Geelong next year.

    Unfortunately the other members have pulled out, but I decided to still attend.

    I had booked accommodation for 3 of us in a 2 bedroom apartment in South Geelong and would like to find someone to share with me.

    Wondering if you are aware of any of your players needing accommodation.

    Cheers, Deidre-S

    Btw, my PM Inbox is always getting full. And I don't think Deidre-S is a member here at Badminton Central. So if anyone is wanting to contact Deidre-S direct, it might be best to email me at chris@cccbadminton.com so that I can forward your mail her.

    Wishing Peter-L and Lesley-F 'Best of Luck' in their matches

    .
    As I type, our CCC players, Peter-L and Lesley-F, are probably on court playing.

    Let's wish them Best of Luck in their matches.

    12th Australian Masters Games at Geelong 2009: Lesley-F won Gold and Silver

    .
    Just received good news from Lesley-F. :):):)

    ====== * ====== * ====== start news ====== * ====== * ======

    Chris, The playing is all over now, It was very tough because all 'open' and top grade players were in our division, also the age bracket was too large- 10 years. I managed to scramble a Gold for the team, and a Silver in the individuals, all a big surprise considering the competition. More surprising is that I am not too sore since I did not play for many weeks, the most exercise I got during the holiday period was the dancing I did at the CCC Chinese dinner ! Hope you are well, shall catch up with you sometime soon.

    P.S. I played mixed doubles (in the team) against Loke Poh and Yoke Sone, you probably know them and their standard.

    ====== * ====== * ====== end news ====== * ====== * ======

    WELL DONE LESLEY-F !!! :):):)
