As you all know, I love Super Feet Blue in my SHB100s. For performance and comfort, the combination is first-rate. However (after buying three pairs of SFB and using them in my 100-MX, 100-LTD and 100-LTD-2008), about two months of using each shoe, all three are broken in the heel area and cannot be used for badminton anymore. The SFB heel edge is sharp and cut into the heel cushioning of all three pairs of my 100s. They cut so deep that each pair of shoes collapsed at the heel area and my ankle would occasionally roll outward. I didn't notice this until someone mentioned that my shoes collapsed. So, please check your SFB to see if they have cut into the heel of your shoes. As for this panda, no more SFB and no more 100s either as my favorite LTD 2008s not only collapsed but the lateral claw area ripped wide open after only about 10 uses. Panda is now wearing a new shoe, Asics Tiger Gel Domain: http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/advancedSearch.cfm?keyword=gel+domain So far after two weeks they are superb with SFB. I have SFG on order though, no more Blue for me. The Domain have top-rated cushioning, far greater than the 100s (more like a volleyball shoe) yet transitioning is on par with the 100s. This is usual because normally shoes with lots of cushioning do not transition well but Asics got the heel and forefoot cushioning combination right on with the Gel Domain. The only drawback I see so far is the Domain are a bit heavier than the 100s, 16oz. vs. 14oz. (Size: 13.0 vs, Size: 12.0). I'll do a full report once I wear them for a few more weeks.
that shoes looks nice! pending my recovery from ankle injury, i am thinking of buying a new pair of shoes. asics might be the next shoes i buy if i can find the gel sensei which also have cushioning both at the heel and the forefoot. if not, maybe i will try volleyball mizuno shoes. maybe. but do let us know how the shoes perform sir dink.
misleading title....... warning about SFB & Asics shoe, i thought some thing bad with SF and also Asics shoes. ok, we will wait for NGP review on his latest shoe.
Good but needs some work to be a true badminton shoe. Also, in its current form, it's very slippery on hard courts (basketball, volleyball).
I've said this before and I'll say it again, ideally, do not use volleyball shoes for badminton. Get badminton specific shoes or indoor court specific shoes, which is what the Gel Domain is.
Yes, but SFO is relatively speaking too thick in the forefoot area. It hinders lateral movement and it generates a lot of heat, again, relatively speaking. I'm going back to SFG, it should be a good match for the Gel Domain.
http://www.centralsports.co.uk/shop.php?page=detail&product=6645 I was tempted with the Gel Blast 2 before I got the 100Ltds(the 100Ltds were actually cheaper in the UK!) as they look awesome! Not sure whether they're called something else in other regions though. Might wanna try them out and post another of your awesome reviews!
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59805 Same thing? not surprising But what do you mean colapse? did you rip the entire shoe?
Yep, my 2008-LTDs, ripped just like in your link. On the collapsed heel, on all three pairs, the right heel cushion was cut so deep into the footbed that the heel of my foot no longer lands on the cushion. Instead, it wants to come out of the right side of the shoe.
what cut the cushion? SFB? Or just 200lbs of weight compressing the heel? Was looking on the web for that shoe, can't find much about it... Some site present it as a volleybal shoe :? Around here, the gelblade-2's are gaining popularity... The verdict isn't out on my 4-sys's yet. Other brands are catching up to yonex EDIT: excuse the apparant incoherence of my post... just some random thoughts about shoes
Be careful... ..whoah, sorry to hear about your ankle injury, Leen!(was it on left or right ankle??)..But hope you'll recover soon!! Dan, i hope the new Asics Tiger shoes will hold up pretty well, longer. I cringed a bit reading that you occasionally rolled your ankle (outward); don't want to have you suffer a sprain ankle-
actually, you can just put epoxy paste on the heel cup of SFB, then grind it slightly to smoothen any rough edges. or alternatively, just grind away the grooves on the heel cup. then it won't cut into the shoes that much
ya, not many consumer products are panda proof. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=803470&postcount=38
Probably both and *blush*, 200lbs.? More like 235lbs. Also, yes, some sites have it as a volleyball shoe, and it does have enough support. But I assure, it works ideal for badminton. Asics has it on its website as an indoor court training shoe, that's why I looked into and made the purchase: http://www.asicsamerica.com/products/product.aspx?PRODUCT_ID=240009603&TITLE_CATEGORY_ID=250001681
yeah, it was a bummer. one month before ramadhan. that's a double whammy. i had planned to play to the max before resting during the ramadhan. the injury was on my right ankle, my racket side foot. there's even pain on the ball of the forefoot. there's still some pain now when i move my feet in a certain position. but, i hope i will fully recover by october. yay!!! badminton here i come. though i am a bit worried that i will injure myself again. the pain was real bad. my very first sprained ankle. hahaha which is also what mizuno do. describe some shoes as volleyball shoes when they are more indoor court shoes. i know that some all out volleyball shoes are not suitable for badminton but some mizuno volleyball shoes are suitable for indoor court sports. plus, without trying you will never know if they are suitable for you and badminton. just like you are trying gel domain when it is not categorized as a badminton specific shoes.
I tried most of the Mizuno volleyball shoes and the best one for badminton would be the Wave Lightning 4 (WL4). The WL4 have excellent cushioning in the rear and forefoot. In fact, in the forefoot it's too much, too much that it hinders mobility a bit. That's really the only drawback on the WL4. This does not happen with the Gel Domain.
Aren't some shoes marketed as vball shoes in NA yet marketed as badminton shoes in asia or europe? How do you feel about those?
