Hello! I would like to start a badminton club in my city - Cluj-Napoca, Romania. We are thinking of using a indoor basketball venue (there are no badminton venues in our city) and puting down a provisional badminton courts by using badminton rollable surfaces. Another way would be to use tape to mark the lines, but this would take up a lot of work as the lines will have to be put on and taken off every time we play. What do you think? Which is the best option is such conditions? Regarding rollable surfaces, does anyone now where we could by them? (preferably in Europe). We are interested especially in used surfaces as new ones might be too expensive. Thank you!
any budget in mind ? but, if you have the basketball venue, then maybe just add another color for badminton lines by painting (as like here in Singapore) and for the net, you can buy the portable net-pole or make it by yourself.
The venue is not ours, so there are little chances of them allowing us to paint lines on their floor. But it is worth asking As for the budget, we might be able to raise around 3000 $, but we also have to buy the nets, polls and other equipment. Thank you! The budeget is quite limited - around
court surface Hi filipf, I think it is advisable to use colour tapes to mark the boundary. I used to play in Suzhou University's compound n they used white tapes n green tapes to differentiate between badminton courts boundaries and basketball court boundaries. Although these colour might worn off after a prolonged period of usage. They are replaceable and removable. Furthermore, they are not very expensive. Lee
I presumed it is US$ 3000. If you do not have any preferable, you can PM me to discuss. How knows I can help you to buy it.
Hello, We havethe same problem as Filip. We are geting tennis courts for 3 hours a day. But there is no way they could let us draw lines for badminton. So the only way is courts or something else that I do not know about. Any ideas? Main problem is that we have to put and take them out every day. So maby there is something for such a problem?? Maby there are not all courts but just lines that could be rollable?? Because every day it has to be put and taken off. Other thing is that we are talking about 12 courts not one so maby any suggestions?
Well, the only solution i found so far is to use tape to mark the lines. there is special tape for marking spor courts - you can give it a google search. But, these also have to be put on and off... The tapes are quite resistent from what i hear. if the owners don't mind them, this might be a solution. As for rollable lines, i don't think it would work. it would have to tape - otherwise you could trip and fall, if the lines are not tight on the ground. Any other ideas?
Any well made painter's masking tape can be used to mark the lines for indoors. We do it here for quite a few badminton clubs. Maybe ask the gym if you can use a marker to at least mark down the corners and intersections. This way, you can put up the tape each time without have to dragging a rule or laser pointer along with it.
Thanx George, now it is this stage that we can try to find any sum of money if we could find out how to resolve this problem. I beleive that we could make about 70k to make 12 courts. maby any ideas?
I presumed 70K is US$ 70,000 ...... Our principal has the product from US$ 3000, US$ 3500 and US$ 6500 per court. Price is without shipping cost. Please check your PM ........
I just checked, if you order directly from Yonex, the official Olympic mat set including the net is $7,999 (in USD) per set and shipping is not included. That is the only mat set Yonex is selling right now. Good luck!!!
Our CCC Badminton players are happy with Taraflex mats . george@chongwei ... What makes you think I am an expert in laying out Badminton court surface? The truth is "I am not". For the Badminton events at the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, Taraflex mats were used. I was only involved there as a coach, and I was not involved with the setting up of the courts. However, I found that most International players, including my trainees participating at the Games, were happy with the Taraflex mats. Those Taraflex mats have now been moved to a venue where our CCC Badminton sessions are played. And our CCC players are also happy with those mats. For questions from filipf and rakapaul, perhaps Taralex is best to answer them: click here And there are 2 versions: Portable and Permanent. Hope that I have been helpful. And as posted by silentheart, Yonex is another maker of Badminton mats. Cheers... chris@ccc .
