I haven't heard of any badminton-coaching centres in Japan, but I'm pretty sure that there'll be a バドミントン部 at the university you'll be attending.

You want to train to become a badminton professional?
In Japan, players as same as your age are in high schools as famous for badminton.
They don't go to a badminton academy.
I think there is no academy for training for high school student.
But there are many good players in Tokyo.
I am sure they teach you if you want to train in serious, and invite you to a club where good players join.
I told you about a lesson gym in Shibuya.
My friend is a good player in Shibuya area and he know many good places.
So if possible, I recommend you to go there once.

Or there are some academy for elementary school and junior high schoo students.
If you are OK, you may be able to join the club.

Japanese amatur players want to improve their badminton levels.
They usually train in serious after working.

So in Japan, you can train hard to improve your badminton anywhere you want.

By the way, you can focus on only badminton, there is some technical university which has a major for badminton.
But you can enter the university after graduating high school.

There are many way to meet with good badminton players in Japan, but few badminto academy.

May I have infomation about badminton in Shibuya, or in Tokyo

Hi.. my name is Anek from Bangkok, Thailand.
Usually I visit Tokyo once a year for attending YONEX OPEN JAPAN.
Whenever I visit Tokyo, I always go to Windsor Racket Shop in Shinjuku and Shibuya for buying badminton shoes and rackets.
I love to join playing badminton in Tokyo. Normally I stay at KEIO PLAZA HOTEL.
As info. that you guys mention above. There is a Badminton club in Shibuya area.
Would you please give me information and MAP & TIME to play for me in English.
I cannot read Japanese. My Level badminton is intermediate, and love to play badminton (doubles) when I travel to Tokyo next time.
    my email is Anek999@hotmail.com .
    Thank you in advance :)
    * If anyone plan to visit Bangkok and also love to play Badminton or have fun with Thai badminton players, feel free to email me.

    Hi,anek999

I was also in Japan Open.
    We may meet there:D

By the way, we play badminton in Shibuya with this forum members.
Next year, let's go playing badminton with us when you can play.

I will go the open. So I think I can arrange a badminton session before going to the gym.
    See you then.

    Miyuki

    That's awesome..

..anek999(Anek), you should've visited the Tournaments sub-forum/section! We could've had possibly a BC get-together this yr (or perhaps next yr) at the Japan Open; and considering you know quite a few Thai players, too...
anyway, hope to meet you one of these days for a BC get-together!

I met Shu Wada, Rei Sato and some other top Japanese junior players ( they lost to keita masuda and tadashi ohtsuka, first round at the japan open ). I questioned them about how they train, and they replied saying that they attend a boarding school and they train nearly every day.

I'll ask them again if they attend the KLRC NZ Open later in November.

Alot of schools join the inter-high national tournament, so people train very often to compete in it.

    インドにはバドミントンアカデミーって言うのがあるって聞いたけど・・ 日本にはないと思う。 って言うか 日本は中国みたいにそんなに、バドで強くないし・・

    Thank You Miyuki

Thank you for replying me so fast !
Let's have some Badminton play together next year during
Yonex Open Japan 2009. The stadium and Shibuya area is not
far, then it's so convenient to play with you and teams.
What day and time you usually play ?
I hope it will be great experience for me to have chance to play with you in Japan.

    ^^Sounds dandy...^^

:p..so, you came back to BC after someone PMed you about places to play in Thailand, eh??..;)
Yes, i'm currently in the U.S. No, haven't attended any Japan Open.
Next yr? Not sure (always has to do with scheduling):p...But i'll keep you posted when i plan to go there (i have a couple Japanese friends living there & yes, they also play baddy) and possibly do a BC get-together with the other Japan-based BCers (it's always been tough to do a BC get-together for the Japan Open)...
Would love to meet the Thai players, too. But not sure how i'll hold up if i do play against them...:p

Anyway, will keep in touch and do visit the Tournaments sub-forum/section, if you have time. Could definitely had your inputs..;)

Thank you.... you found it !

That's it ! You got the right answer I've had in mind.
I totally forgot the name of this court in L.A.
Also I had chance to play with this guy.. he is Chinese. Is ALEX his name?
He was introduced to me by my cousin who now still lives in L.A. and play at this court with his Hong Kong friends.
