Hello guys, need your opinions on this.. for armortec 700, what are the recommended strings & tensions for intermediate level players? currently, it's with a BG-66 with 23 lbs (not sure horizontal/vertical tesnion)..but i'm feeling some sore elbows after 2-3hrs of playing..before this i'm using carbonex 21 special with BG-66 on 18 - 20 lbs. anyway...should the horizontal & vertical string tensions be the same? cos on the racket it says 20 - 25 lbs, very general. i heard from my friends saying that horizontal tension should be around 22 - 25 lbs & vertical tensions around 20 - 23 lbs. pls advise. thank you.
In my experience, you can either string it all at the same weight or with the crosses benig approximately 10% more. Yoned recommend a 10% increase on the crosses simply to keep the shape of the racket head the same. When done at the same weight, the head is a more oval shape, which some prefer. I prefer to do the crosses at 10% more. A general rule is that the thicker the string is, the more it needs to be tightened. If i'm using BG65 for example, I will do this a few pounds more than using NBG98. with lower tension, it is easier, particularly for beginners, and the strings are a lot more forgiving. If you use a higher tension, you may notice your shoulder or arm hurting because you are used to looser strings. I would say that tight strings suit someone who uses wrist more than their whole arm, but it is advised not to have the strings too tight if you are inexperienced. 23lbs should not be a problem, however. Most injuries are caused because of overstraining or because of bad technique. For example, I used to get a really bad shoulder because I used to play a lot of shots to far away from the shuttle and would be reaching too far for it. I now make sure that when I am playing an overhead clear, that I am standing directly under the shuttle and reaching up to it, rather than out. This seemed to help. It may be worth getting a friend to analyse your technic and see if they can notice anything that may cause unnecessary strain. Hope this helps.
If you're feeling sore, then the strings are probably too tight for you, since more vibration is being transferred into your arm. I'd say, go down to 21lbs. When your start to feel that the stringbed is too lose at that tension, then start going up in small increments so you don't suffer sore arms.
The pain in your elbow is probably due to the tension being too high for you. It may also be bad technique. Start of at 22x24lbs with increase or decrease the tension from there.
Really, I have three racquets: AT 900P strung at 28x30 lbs. NBG 98 AT 700 strung at 26x28 lbs. BG 80 ARCSABER 10 strung at 24x26 lbs. NBG 98 Out of these three AT 900P and ARC10 work awesome for me but AT 700 gives me a sort of sore arm but not a lot. I would consider myself as an advanced player so no technique problem. Please help me with AT 700 if its the string tension thats bugging me.
NBG98 has a medium feeling while BG80 has a hard feeling so that is probably why it hurts when you use it. Maybe you should also use NBG98 on your AT700 as well.
woaaa 27x29, hey u know if u misshit theres a chance ur string will just snap, but if ur unlucky ur racquet would crack, cause the tension is to high, but hey its ur racquet, ur choice
I've got my AT700 3U JP strung at 28x31lbs with nbg95, no problems so far. My friend's MP99 strung with nbg98 @ 25lbs on an MP99 broke in two months, and my at700 previously strung with auspic a66's @ 26lbs broke in two months too.
Higher tensions give better control and power to people that can swing rackets fast enough to benefit from them. The only thing they give to players that can't handle them is a very sore forearm. Lower tensions give better power to people who can't handle high tensions and possibly a bit less control but that's quite subjective.
if i use at700(old) with nbg 98 @ 24 .. is it ok? what is the best tension if i use nbg 98 on at700(old?)and does it cost any effect on my racket?
Thx .. you really help me alot .. maybe i need to start playing searching function by now .. and if dont found again ill blame on my thread*LOL*
