NBG98 vs BG80

I've traditionally used BG80 but lately, I've used the NBG95 and after a few sessions, I've quickly realize that BG80 is much better for power and control (for me). I think you should stick with the BG80 but at a different tension.

 

I think that you can go for NBG 95. I have an ARCSABER 10 also which is strung at 27lbs. with NBG 95 and it performs outstanding for me, i used BG 80 once for 3 days (4 hrs. a day) and i was forced to cut it because it was just crap FOR ME.

i asked a lot ppl abt NBG 95, all of them gaqve me bad feedback abt it and ask me not to use it. even BG 80 is better.

 

BG80 is pretty good....probably the way I play but I'm having a great time with my Arc 10 + BG80.....I was originally going to string NBG95/98, but I realize that I do not require such pro-string....But I'm having fun anyway.....

 

If you use 27lbs for both BG80 and NBG 95 and find BG80 to be poor, then I believe the "effective" tension of BG80 was probably too high for you. It would be better if if you were to string BG80 at 10% lower tension than NBG 95, ie. from 27lbs to 23lbs. At 27lbs BG80 might be too stiff or hard for you.

Dinkalot's reviews are for his preferences, and how they work for him. For phandrew, NBG98 is the best. For dinkalot, BG80 and MP are the best. For me, I don't really care and just use BG65. If you want an idea of which strings are the best, you have to test them out for yourselves. The important part of Dinkalot's review is which strings are recommended. Once you look at strings which are recommended, then you have to decide which one you like best, based on your own experiences.

 

I agree. The reviews provide a good reference for how the strings *relate* to each other.
This is useful for people who may not have access to cheap stringing and string. The best way to find your preference is to try them yourself.

As for Dink's string string review. It is not fair accurate reference for comparision because some of the strings were string at 29lbs. Unless these strings in question have been re-tested using 27lbs, use your own judgement for this.

 

Best way is to test the string yourself and see how you feel.

 

The 98's are quite powerful and the 80's are pretty much the benchmark. I personally will stick to 80's as I find that the NBG's are a bit slippery at times although they are more durable. Also something small to consider, if you plan on using NBG 98's you'll have to order your own or find a store that carries it as it's not widely available in Canada. I've tried the 95's and don't like it at all. The only way to know for sure is to try them out and see how you like them!

The string is only available in Japan, so it is not available anywhere else. If it was imported and a place carries it other than Japan, that is a different story.

It's more like lets do some research just like I. Good thing I have my 200M reels in a assumed undisclosed location .

 

I always use the Yonex recommended string first. NBG95/98 is the case for the ARC7/10. I think these strings are specially designed for use with the latest rackets. For older rackets, I still use BG-80 because the NBG95/98 are so 'hard'. The new string feels like it's designed for high tensions and hold it much longer. You have to string the NBG9x at higher tension to utilize the full potential. If you don't like high tensions, stick with the BG-80.

In case of tension recommendations, I always use 24/25 LBS. It's not low or high so I can compare all kind of strings with the same tension. Played with a ARC7 with 30+ LBS tension with the NBG95, and I have to admit that it played better than 24/25 LBS.

 

Strings, rackets, shoes, etc which one is the best, we can argue for years. Simply because there's no right or wrong answer, as like which one taste the best, apple or orange. Someone's meat is always someone else's poison.

The chart is a reference, and it's kinda safe to say strings being identified as "very poor" usually don't outperform "excellent" for most of us. However, once it comes to "good vs. good + vs. excellent", then it's really down to your own style.

There's only "what's best for yourself", but not "best for everyone in the world".

 

NBG 95 well especially well at high tension for some reason.

 

I pretty much agree with optiblue.

I do not find any problem with BG80 at high tension (apart from the obvious durability issues at 30x33 or so ;-) ..
