Increase grip size: additional replacement grip or overgrips?

Hi:

I'm pretty new to the forum, and badminton in general. Recently I got a Yonex MP21 2UG4 (http://www.bbeshop.com/yonex/yonex20...t_mp21_bbe.jpg, it was the only decent model affordable to me in my area after some research here), and I want to increase the grip size and cushioning.

I really like the grip size and feel of my friend's racket. Its also G4, and he has a Yonex Aerotec AR-6667 grip (http://www.bbeshop.com/yonex/yonex2007/grip_ar6667.htm) over the original grip.

My question is, assuming the AR-6667 is designed as a replacement grip, should I be using one of those instead (I'm thinking the Karakal PU Super grip) or use multiple layers of a thinner overgrip instead like most people on this board?

I would say: Expariment!
First try with overgrip.
Play a session (it takes time to get use).
If you want more cushioning, try towel grip -- one of these slip-on towel grips, that you can wash.
By removing the original grip, you will ruin the balanse of the racket and it will be more like head heavy.
Some people just wrap the wood with overgrip -- don't mind blisters obviously...

A replacement grip is mainly thicker than a overgrip. Depending how thick you want your grip and how much cushion you will add one of them.

I'm definitely looking to add quite a bit of thickness to the grip. Any recommendations for thick grips? (I have read dinker's review chart on them, but am not sure how thick is thick on that chart)

Try the Kimony KGT-107. I'm currently using it with my ArcSaber 10 and boy, doesn't it feel good. My racquet supposedly be 3UG4 but I think the grip is kinda small so I applied the overgrip, it now feels like G3 with a super firm grip.

Kimoni is a very very sticky grip. IMO it doesn't stay quite long.
Now I am using Prince over grip, not as sticky as kimoni, but hold longer.
It packs 3 grips in a box like wilson over grip.

The key is keep experimenting guys.

Agree! I am totally anal about my grips. My current preference is non-sticky overgrips so I can unroll the overgrip to air it after every session.

i using the karakal PU Super grip also .... recentl i bought the wilson tennis overgrip... 3 in 1 pack ... feel great... !!!

Hmm...never noticed the sticky-ness, but it does feel quite firm.... But yes, durability maybe low compared with Prince, but it stays longer than Yonex graps....

Err.. nope. Maybe I wasn't clear. I unroll the grips to air them but reuse them.

I use Wilson X-Tra Tack which does last quite a while -- easily 20-25 sessions. They are kinda cheap in Singapore (Royal Sporting House) costing only S$2.20 each in a 3-pack. They were out the last time I check -- hopefully RSH will bring them back.
