Hi, I was just wondering if there are any open tournaments occuring about 100 miles from Essex (or less). I Want to start getting a name for myself. in a couple of years i will start traveling abroad (Germany, Denmark etc) for tournaments but seeing as i'm only 16 are there any tournaments that are going on? If so let me know. Matt
Start at the satellites and work up untill you find your standard. From whast you have said this should be either the Challengers or the Grand Slams. Check out the baofe site in august sometime. Remember that your ranking points are divided by eight until you play more than eight events so in order to get the best ranking you need to actually play in eight events during a season. As for nearby tournaments, you should play the Hertfordshire Open, Wimbledon if you can get in, Middlesex Open, and the Sussex Grand Slam. You are probably going to have to travel for the rest. If you give me your email I'll send you a copy of a timetable I made up last season. The dates don't change that much so you can get an idea of where and when each ranking event is happening.
easterholidaysindenmark just an idea.... There is a tournament for juniors (u15 u17 u19 =under......15....17....19) every year near aarhus. It is a great opportunity to meet players from all over the world, play a lot of badminton at various levels - depending on your skills. Players come from Canada, Croatia, Germany, Sweden, Uk???? etc......this year more than 400 players came. Anyway, tell me if you are interested. A good idea would be to gather a group of players from england......let me know!
Isn't there a hertfordshire open coming up? If my dates are right? And also where is the nearest satellite to Essex? Any ideas?? Matt
Hertfordshire Open is the weekend of 31st August and 1st September. Challenger at Wimbledon the following weekend then choice between Harrogate and Cornwall. Then it is the county restricteds. The Essex Open is a Challenger and is in early April.
