A rather International question. If you are a pro, please don't answer! A search of the forum showed no threads of this manner.. For me; England: lots of venues. Newcastle, Durham, Hull, Leeds, Manchester, B'ham, London, Soton, L'brough Wales: Bangor!!!! Holland: Amsterdam Hong Kong Malaysia: KL, Ipoh Australia: Brisbane, Sydney Canada: Toronto, Vancouver
I suppose I'm not a real badminton fanatic after all: when I travel sports just isn't on my agenda (well, except for jogging in the mornings)... But if I were to go to Malaysia or China I guess it would be a natural thing to do... In fact, I've only been in Asia once, and that was Japan, and well, suffice it to say that during my three weeks stay (mainly in fantastic Tokyo) I didn't even think about badminton!
Hmm - no never played outside of the UK either. Might be playing a tournament or two next year in Amsterdam, St. Petersburg, not sure yet... Cheung - yo've played in Durham? Hooray! What event was that? And when? Don't get much in the way of tournaments here... ISBT open this year... lost in two damn finals... grr...
Played in tournaments in the following places: Nearly everywhere in the UK Wales Scotland Belgium Plan to play in the US if I get a year out there.
let's see.. Most of Malaysia coz that's where I'm originally from and of course, most of New Zealand..sheesh Cheung, you make me feel sooo not-well-travelled Nevermind.. there's time still..
hmm... places.. Hong Kong US - Pittsburgh, Bay Area UK - London, Gt. Malvern + many schools all over the place
Playing Badminton in other countries Well I played in tournaments in following countries: Luxembourg of course where I live Germany, nearby Trier France(Strasbourg, Wittenheim, ) Belgium (Malmedy, East Belgium Cup Eynatten) Netherland (Gulpen) Where I trained or played for fun: My best experience: Indonesia (Djarum) Denmark:Copenhague Portugal: Portimao Switzerland: (I don't remember where it was) Where I still would like to play once is USA and China. May be one day. I try always to bring my racquet along with me, you never know where you will be able to play!
London, UK: I used to live next door to 4 badminton courts run by the city council, and for a quid, I could play until I drop. Hong Kong: During my recent trip back there, I played at a club on the Kowloon side where they have these thin rubber mats covering the wood floor. They allow for excellent traction and are very gentle on the joints. State-of-the-art! Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA: They have a great coach, that more than makes up for all the other deficiencies!
Hi, I haven't played in many COUNTRIES but i have played in alot of counties. But as soon as i take badminton full time (in 2 weeks) i am going to be traveling alot more. First to Birmingham in Auguest and then things like opens in the US, Germany, stuff like that to get myself a name Matt
".....things like opens in the US...." I don't think playing in the US will help you with your rank or your bank!!
gotta add to this list: Netherlands - Yong's club somewhere in/near Rotterdam Netherlands - in the Sudirman Cup practice court in Eindhoven, against.. you know who.. Vancouver - VRC LA - SGVBC San Diego - Balboa Park
