Perhaps it's time for McDonald's to start to think of sponsoring Wang Yihan.

Yeah, from disastrous start lost to Sung Ji-hyun in opening match she turns to Champion, it's so meaningful winning for her. Wang Yihan is the most successful WS player along this year to bag seven titles => 4 SSP (KOR Open, INA Open, CHN Open, SS Finals) + 1 SS (Japan Open) + 1 GP Gold (BAC) and the top-notch World Championships, congrats!

What a lackluster performance from Wang Yihan against compatriot Jiang Yanjiao in the SF! Uninspired? Tired? Or was this simply a case of a rigged match?

I think the presence of Zhang Ning and Zhong Bo are required for Yihan to play at a top form. Without their on-court advice, she seems clueless and couldn't find answer to some of her compatriots' shots.

She is the top choice for China to win the Gold Medal OG and I hope Wang Shixian could give her a run for her money in the final..that would be awesome.

Without her coaches she does look a bit lost. She did a fine job however against WX at the SS finals. Is it lack of self confidence or lack of tactical insight, who knows?

    Next stop: Maybank!

She will be fine. JYJ is not a threat to grab one of the OG spots so she won't have to deal with her at the OG. JYJ also has a good record against most CHN players, so this loss is nothing new for WYH. Throw in a few conspiracy theories (aren't there always some these days surrounding the CBA) and voila, a WYH loss.

Don't look too much into it. The CBA has things under control.

Come on...... You think that WYH cannot think for herself in terms of her own game-plan or tactical play?

Yeah, I don't think lack of coaching was the problem either. I have heard Yihan takes a big responsibility by herself to study her opponents and make game plans.

To me she seemed really uninterested in fighting for the win. Especially in the beginning of the second set, where Yihan would have wanted to make a good start and make a momentum shift, she threw in a bunch of early errors in the rallies to give Yanjiao a good solid lead! Then she came back in the latter stages of the set but it just seemed like it didn't really matter so much to her.

I just find it weird in such a big tournament, first tournament of the year, not wanting to make a statement.

We'll see tomorrow what she makes of it. First opponent is the Q4 qualifier. If she wins, she might play Bae Young Joo. That ought to be an interesting match. Lets hope there is a live stream because there wasn't much WYH prime time at the Korean SSP .

Confidence, my fellow WYH followers .
