Sports Other Than Badminton
Hello BC members:
Just want to see if there are other members here like me who plays regular badminton but still play other regular sports or activities.
I play 4 times a week Badminton and also play Aikido once a week. My Badminton and Aikido activities started almost same time but i am more inclined to do more Badminton than Aikido. Just a yellow belt in aikido currently.
How about others?

Do you participate in any other sports that aid in your badminton development?
I've been playing volleyball as long as I've been playing badminton. I find that volleyball has helped my timing and explosiveness on jump smashes.
Brazilian Jiujitsu has really upped my cardio. I don't play singles that much but when I do, my cardio level is better than many of the guys that do play singles regularly.
What sports do you find help with your game?

recently, i have taken up cycling again. i think it was fall 2012 when i suddenly wanted to improve my stamina. i dusted off the bike, and so far this year i am almost at 3000 miles.
my stamina has improved greatly. nowadays i can step onto the badminton court and play a game of doubles without feeling out of breath, regardless of how hard i play.
i found that the key to keeping up with biking is to find a good group. a group that works hard, as well as fun and social. that kept me going for this year despite most rides being at 6am or 7am in weekend morning.
beyond biking, this fall i started running. i used to absolutely hate running. but suddenly thought i need another challenge. and challenge it is. my first run for nearly a decade i redlined my heart rate for nearly 20mins. no amount of biking could spike my heart rate so high. i originally though biking is hard, but running takes it just another level higher.
i have just started running and i will see where that brings me. i have already found that the muscles trained in cycling do not help badminton that much. however, i think i will find it differently for running. i look forward to some further improvement in my speed and stamina on the badminton court.
