    Hi all

I re-strung my racket at 26lbs as usual with Nanogy instead of BG 65.
The first thing that I noticed was that the nanogy strings pull and hold their tension better than BG 65. I noticed that there was very little tension loss.

After having my hopes up, they were soon dashed when I played with the NBG 95 string.
When I smashed or drove the lines, the shuttle seemed to go out quite a lot and not where I wanted it to go (and it's not my playin, as I rarely do this with 65). Control on Net shots is also very poor with these strings.
Although they last a long time and sound good to hit with, the control is absolutely appalling.

Has anyone else noticed this? I think I will go back to BG65 or 80.
Seems like all the new strings with Coating (Nanogy or Titanium) just aren't as good as the old strings.

    Your thoughts and comments please...

NBG strings have the coating making it a bit slippery.

Agreed, that's the point I am making.

I don't understand why Yonex are making all these new strings with this coating and that coating, completely losing the playability that we have all enjoyed over the years.

I'm now going back to BG65, string it a 27 so that it will drop after about the first week to 24/25 ish, which suits me best.

It's just so slippery. The coating removes any chance of control.
You get a lot of power, and a really nice crack sound.
But what is that without control???

In fact, it would be really good if everyone who has tried NBG 95 could say either Yes they like the string or No thy don't like the string.

    Thanks all!!

NBG strings have excellent power and durability but a bit lacking in control. If you play with NBG strings long enough your control will become better.

BG65 is more towards durability rather than power and control. BG80, BG85 or BG66 are your best string if you want power and control but they lack in durability.

NGB98 is very repulsive. It does have control as you need to adapt to the string's characteristics.

Consider this - Cai or was it Fu that is using NGB98.

Wouldn't it be better if the manufactors made the nanothing inside and vectran outside the string? Is it possible?

I've been the NBG95 for about half a year now and I find that it's not as bad as people say it is. Yes, you lose a bit of control but I believe it's not impossible to adjust to the string.

I've tried both 98 and 95 Nanogy. They have an odd feel that might be interpreted as less control. I also feel it has less power than the BG80 (transfer of power, I guess). It's true that one should be able to adapt to it but for the price difference I find it not worth it.

If cost is no object, my preference: BG66 (gold)>BG80 (white)> BG85 (white)>Nanogies/any Ti coat YY

    Like Nanogy?

The short answer is "no". Granted 98 is obscenely powerful but the same problems apply to both gauges: slipperyness and lack of feel. (Also, the exorbitant cost of N98 is enough to put me off using it regularly.)

When I used it, briefly, I found that aiming anywhere near the lines with Nanogy is dicey to say the least - the shuttle slides on the bed with the slightest unintentional slice - and things get very hairy at the net if the opponent is looming over you and you have to play the perfect spinner.

As numerous people have said, you can adapt to this drop in control, but added to the definite lack of communication between head and handle on even the hardest smash and, for my play, Nanogy doesn't suit: I like a heavy thud of feel when I clout a shot.

Btw, Matt: going only by string colour, I think both Cai and Fu used Nanogy, but it's 95: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yonex.com.cn%2Fnews%2Fshow_news.asp%3Fid%3D591%26type_id%3D1&lp=zh_en&btnTrUrl=Translate

Fu would probably have to change rackets after every rally if he had 98 on:D.

Got a friend's 900P to do today which currently has Nanogy on.

    "Would you want Nanogy again?"
"God, no. I only got it because it was the only one he had."
"What don't you like about it?"
"Too greasy and feels totally dead." (this is at 28lbs, I might add)

The anti-Nanogy bandwagon gains another passenger...

    Sounds just like me.

The strings really do feel greasy, even if you run your finger over them.

I would never normally say that a bad workman blames his tools, but when I use Nanogy, I really do blame the strings.

Well I THINK Dinkalot and Phandrew did mentioned that nanogy needs to string high tension for it to come alive, probably above 26lbs.

I'm not sure how true it is, I strung my RSL X2 blue 25lbs didnt work for me.
String it with BG80 28lbs suddenly the racket is more lively.WTF BG80 is 40%cheaper too.

Even my buddy's arc saber+ NBG95 as recommended by yonex website, didnt performed as anticipated after all those hype. He gone back to BG66/BG80

I used both N anogy 98 and Nanogy 95 and after playing with them a few times i got use to it and have good control at the net. its just like switching from a headlight racquet to head heavy racquet your contact point and feel wont' be the same its a matter of adjusting. i recommended Nanogy 95 and 98 to my friends and they were skeptical about it because they said it felt slippery and didnt' want to try them so i gave them a couple of packs to try out and after a couple of plays they liked it a lot.

if you are still up for suggestions try them out a few more times and just practice that's all it takes and in the end if you still don't like them by all means switch its basically personal preference.
