    Reported today in Vietnam News:

In the women’s singles final, Zhang Beiwen of Singapore beat her fellow patriot Xing Aiying 11-21, 21-19, 22-20 to take the title.

(In the WD) Indonesian duo Irawati Shendy Puspa and Jauhari Meiliana beat out Suri Shinda Mulia and Yao Lei of Singapore 21-16, 19-21, 21-11 to take the title.

(So Zhang Beiwen is slowly paying back SBA's trust in her.)

Well Zhang Beiwen surprised me again when she beat the better known Indonesian Pia Zebadiah Bernadet 21-8, 21-14 to advance to tomorrow's Malaysian Open QF.

She is the only Singaporean player to make it to the QF.

Why not? China has so many of them and only the best will be retained and groomed further to represent the country.

Those teenagers in their 12s and 13s who are not considered good enough are allowed to find their own arrangement with the consent of their parents.

With a vast pool of talents and only 2 or 3 best can represent CHN at major meets, why waste the talents...send those 'no-good-enough-for-CHN over to MAS/SIN and heck! send them to Canada

Zhang Bei Wen will be anopther star as I have predicted on other thread...she has good weapon...SIN should send her to more tournaments....
SIN will have 3 solid one for Sea Games this year..INA should watch out...Xing Ai Ying, Fu Ming Tian and Zhang Bei Wen...

Default Honestlii . Singapore is pathetik ...

What is up with all these talented players leaving Singapore's National Team .

Gu Juan was such a good player .
Zhang Beiwen wasn't bad either .
It's stupid how the Singapore coach only focuses on Li Li and Xing Aiying and all the others . What's her problem ?! Biase freak !
Xing Aiying isn't doing much better than i saw her two years ago ... She's not moving up at all ... And 2 years ago , she was seeded number 2 at the 2007 World Junior Championships , and got knocked out by a random in the first round or somethn . Totalli stupidd !

Please dont involve MAS in soliciting PRC services. We all use Malaysian only.

George, did I miss you yesterday. I met your good friend limsy though.

It was good to see Zhang trying her best against top Danish badminton queen Tine. A rare chance for her to spar with very good players. Hope she knows her weaknesses fast enough and takes steps to strengthen them to become a better player. And I think she will have lots more chances to learn and prove herself now that she has improved her ranking in the Singapore team.
