Do push ups actually help you in badminton? I heard various things about push-ups. I'm not talking about mixes of strength exercises that will help, I'm talking just push ups.
I think with any racket sport, holding a racket for a prolonged period of time will fatigue the arm muscles. push-ups will help strengthen arm muscles, maintaining power for a longer duration of time, hence more smash and clears may be achieved than usual.
I find push-ups to be really beneficial for overall arm strength. Do it regularly you'll find your smash, clears and backhand will be much better.... and reduces the risk of getting injured especially to the shoulder...
I found that it made me tend to hit the bird out and I had more random arm pains. That said, if it works for you, go for it!
Google Books According to this book. Try this fitness exercises see pg 165. Excellent recommendations for badminton training. Yes it does help.. it helps build your shoulders, triceps and upper arm strength.. I did it my time however I would recommend that if you were to go to a gym, it would be more effective as you can focus on the right muscles for badminton... If you do push up's ull see improvement if you do it 3-4 times a week within 1 month. I think wristwork is also important hence why you would need to build up your wrist strength... ciao da mao smashingmark.wordpress.com
you can use pushups to work on muscular endurance which is highly benificial for badminton as well you can also use free weights and machines to do the same thing but they are benificial for overall fitness as well as working on muscular endurance.
It also depends on what kindda push ups you do.. you can increase difficulty to your strengths... Have u tried 1 hand push ups... that really helps too ciao smashingmark.wordpress.com
yup it is true that you can do many different kinds of pushups, i actually can do one handed pushups not to many though only 8-10 of them. ive also done finger pushups, tricep pushups, one hand one let pushups, elevated pushups, etc so there are alot of variations way more even than what i mentioned but they are beinficial to do.
