Hey guys, When I started playing badminton.. The first racquet which was the talk of town were the Carbonex 8 - with the metal frame and the yellow handle.. Then later everyone wanted the carbonex 20 and 21.. What racquets did ya use or do u remember in your early days? Ciao Smashingmark.wordpress.com
Mine was a metal carlton with the squashed shaft!! Then moved onto a Pro Kennex graphite beauty, still got it today although cut down for 3 year old son!
Flashback alert! I remeber the racquet I used: Victor Colombia (black/red) later replaced by Victory Zenith (purple) They are still in great shape... Even today those are great raquets as they are being used by some kids in our club.
Well you guys are just all youngsters. After I had played for about three years, a brand new state-of-the-art ultra-light racket came on the market, so I just had to get one. The Maxpy Fort Under-Five, by Dunlop. Yep, it weighed less than five ounces!! Steel shaft, wood head and handle. Then everyone was totally stunned when Carlton came out with their first all-metal racket, weighing less than 4.5 ounces! Then 4.3 and… well, the rest is history. I still have a Carlton 3.7 for nostalgic reasons, but I never play with it!
Ruffle! Good one man!! I remember my dad and uncles had one too man.. I remeber they had to use an external device of wooden screwed frame to hold and keep the wooden racquet frame in shape.. Cant imagine myself using that racquet to play.. and can you imaging Lin Dan or Taufik using that to play tournaments.. lol ciao da mao smashingmark.wordpress.com
My first racquet was a Dunlop that had a dent in it. I got it from K-mart for less than $20AUS - Probably the only time I ever owned a racquet that matched my skills at the same time.
I wish I had kept my old rackets ..... Carlton 3.7, 3.7x, 3.7s, MHR (mid head racket) yonex carbonex 8 in various colours. can't find any to buy now even on ebay...
Back to 1986 my first racket was Yonex Carbonex 8 DX and still prefer this type to play even after get Carbonex 15 and 20.....
my first racket was the wilson attacker from wal-mart...haha, the uber heavy all steel racket...can't believe i did wonders with that racket
dont they still sell cab 8 in some stores in HK? I thought i remember seeing a couple in superstores 2-4 years ago? im actually trying to find one or two to buy. My cab 8 takes a pretty bad beating usually.
First decent racket I had was a teardrop Carlton, with some sort of funky shock absorbing system at the cone. Best racket was my trust Carlton Powerflo 85G.. sexiness made with carbon.
the first racket that i had was my brother's Dunlop Under 5, the 1st racket that i bought was a Yoneyama wooden head
My first is a Cab8 which I bought brand new in.. 2006 . SGD40 at SportsLink in Woodlands. Yonex still produces the cab8 in Taiwan. It feels really stiff, but it seems to lack power for me.
Mine's a yy b-9300 wooden frame Cab 3. I think it was in the late 70'. i wanted to string it with Natural gut string but do not know what tension. one more yy cab 10 with the T-joint its great to play with it.
from all,i think this is the oldest racket..even yonex hasn't been yonex but yoneyama...guess that's the first few years since yoneyama started to make rackets.
