Hey everyone, Taufik Hidayat, the 2004 Olympic Men's Singles Gold medalist and some of Canada's 2008 Olympic team will be playing exhibition matches at Humber college (in Toronto) Dec. 27th. Just wanted to put it out there if anyone's wanting live badminton over the holidays.
There's a PDF flyer here: http://www.ontariobadminton.on.ca/c...2574DC00113078&c=None&t=None&m=12&y=2008&id=1 (at the bottom) and info here: http://www.badmintonbirds.com/BITE/ **Note: The times are a bit confusing. One site says 6-10pm, another says 7-10pm, and the TICKET & flyer say 7-9pm. I will double check and get back with info about that. I suspect that the 9-10pm window might be time for a bit of socializing etc., and it might be a "doors open" at 6pm policy - but the event officially goes from 7-9pm. Again, I'll confirm ASAP. Tickets are $20 at the door as garry mentioned. I have tickets at $15 if anyone wants some. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61728 This event is a prelude to the events below (separate fees) if anyone's interested: 2008 Toronto International High Performance Training Camp Monday December 29th, 2008 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday December 30th, 2008 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday December 31st, 2008 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Location: Hershey SportZone 2008 Toronto International New Years Eve Dinner Dance Wednesday December 31st, 2008 7:00 pm to 1:00 am Location: Sun Sun Seafood Chinese Restaurant 888 Dundas St. East, Mississauga, Ontario 2009 Toronto International Open Friday January 2nd, 2009 Saturday January 3rd, 2009 Sunday January 4th, 2009 Location: Humber College North Campus
Tickets are $10 in advance for BadmintonCanada/OBA/TDBA and BadmintonBird members. Also tickets are $5 for children U16. Otherwise it is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Taufik Hidayat will be coming as well as Hariawan Hariawan. For tickets, email Pry/Anne at Pry@badmintonbirds.com I can also give out tickets if you come by my area.
Does anyone know if Taufiq is playing singles, or just doubles? This question is both for the Exhiibition and in the Toronto Open. Thanks
clarification please, would TH be at the exhibition matches at Humber college ?? toronto open and exhibition matches are not the same
Hm....last I heard was that he will indeed play in the Toronto open...? Can anyone confirm wether or not he is?
maybe he's afraid of losing to some under-dog players from Ontario or viewers from this forum regardless, i'll still go and watch all 3 days of TO Open. No international stars (not included retired ones) appeared in past years but it's been and will still be an amazing event!
I'm afraid Jennifer is ripping u guys off then. Tickets are suppose to be $10 for OBA members. Also meaning she is taking more money for herself rather then back to badmintonbirds.
May be Jennifer is planning to arrange a coach bus so all the lee's members can go watch the exhibition together. It's not surprising that they tend to stay in their self own group. So that extra $5 is for the bus fee!
